Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Grind mindset
Today, I found out that my promotion had been rescinded and given to someone else, all because I was on a pre-approved vacation. According to my boss, they need someone who's "committed to the company" for the position, and gave me a lecture on how if I keep being "lazy" and "unmotivated" I'll never get ahead. FML
Thanks for nothing
Today, my boss decided that, because I got dragged into a vacation that I didn't even want to go on, she was going to take a promotion back before she even gave it to me. I don't know what's worse, losing the promotion or going on that crappy vacation. FML
Corporate hell
Today, I found out I didn't get the promotion I applied for. Then I was told I was the only one who applied for the job. FML
Today, my two co-workers got the promotion we were all working for. The reason they got the promotion and not me? My interview got cancelled because of a policy change, implemented that day. FML
Plans fall through
Today, I found out that I won't be able to attend my own wedding, because I'll be in a mandatory training class that doesn't allow people to take vacation for any reason. So now we've wasted $10,000, and I can't even fly home for one day. All because I got promoted unexpectedly. FML
Memory error
Today, I lost my job for taking an unauthorized vacation. I just got married and requested time off for the wedding and honeymoon months ago; it was approved then. They forgot, and then got angry because I didn't remind them. I did remind them, the day before I left. FML
Bye then!
Today, while on holiday. I got a call to let me know my job will be gone away when I return. FML
Today, my boss got a promotion and I got laid off. FML
Today, while on vacation, I got fired for not working a shift I wasn't scheduled for. Even after texting my boss a copy of my vacation approval letter, she still fired me. FML
Today, I submitted a vacation request to my manager and it was approved. I came back from lunch and was informed that I have been let go. FML

Go-Getters don't take vacations! They work their lives away in little cubicles being productive little bees so the company can profit more until they either get a watch after 50 years or they die first.

How was it intended for you? Was it promised to you in writing? If someone verbally promised it, I'm afraid legally there's nothing you can do.

You took a vacation? I guess you’re not a “team player.”

I used to work for a company like that. Essentially you had to ask permission in advance to only work 40 hours and even that was frowned upon.

Your boss probably told you that because he didn't want to be the bad guy I doubt they couldn't wait a week or two to promote you... you were scammed...

Here’s a fact: you don’t miss out on a promotion just because you were on vacation. If it was intended for you it would have been waiting for you when you got back.

Or it is a shitty company/boss, creating a culture of fear where employees don't dare to take vacation and sick days because they're afraid on missing a promotion or something

OP, Except for very unusual conditions, nobody ever lost a promotion they were going to get by going on a planned vacation. You were probably misled as to the likelihood you were going to get the promotion. Sometimes managers lie, sometimes they imply things without actually promising it. Only trust things you get in writing for making important career plans - everything else can devolve down to BS. You now know your manager is misleading at best or dishonest at worst. Take that into account for your career plans. It’s very hard to work for a person like that. I know because I had a boss like that before.
