Today, it was the first day of my new job. It was also the last day of my new job. I got a call immediately after finishing my shift to be told the company has "decided to go in a different direction" and will no longer be needing my services. FML

That happened to me. But I was told the day after I'd returned from a holiday to Vegas and blown all my savings. oh and it was my dad who sacked me...

You must be joking. Extend you vacation and spend more money you don’t have when you got laid off? When you get laid off the number 1 priority is finding a new job and income, not vacationing and spending more money.

Yep, that happened to me last year, went away for three weeks and came back to a letter that arrived an hour after I left for my holiday telling me that I was being made redundant.
