Today, I found a credit card at my job. As store policy goes, we have to cut up lost cards immediately after finding them to protect the cardholders. As I grab the scissors and cut, my manager calls out, "Has anyone seen my credit card?" FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
The argument for fake IDs
Today, I wanted to use my gift card for a liquor store. I went to pay the cashier, who said he needed to see my license. I gave it to him, along with my gift card. After paying, he asked me if I wanted him to cut it up, since the card was now worthless. I said yes. He cut up the wrong card. FML
People of Walmart
Today, at work as a cashier, a guy came up with a cart full of stuff and it took me 10 minutes to ring it all up. When I told him his total, he felt his pockets, said, "Oh shit, I forgot my wallet!" and walked off. He left about 15 bags worth of things for me to put back. FML
Make it stop
Today, I finally found out that someone had stolen my debit card and maxed it out. The good news? Whoever it was forgot to change the address on the card, so everything they bought online has been shipped to me. The bad news? I've received 16 snuggies so far, and I'm still counting. FML
Broke boyz
Today, due to "severe cuts to the budget" at work, I had to stir my coffee with a paperclip. FML
This is mine now
Today, I took my printer to work because the one in my office is broken. When I tried to leave, my boss stopped me and accused me of stealing it from the office. Nobody would believe me when I explained. Now my boss has a new printer. FML
Early warning
Today, I overheard my boss stressing out over finding a replacement for me. I didn't know I was leaving. FML
The long game
Today, I got rejected for approximately the tenth credit card I've applied for, so I called a bank to find out why. Apparently I took out a car loan in 2004 and bought a house in 2006. I was 13 in 2004. The credit report does not have any records of this. Thank you identity theft. FML
STOP! THIEF!
Today, my boss entrusted me with his car to run an errand, as I usually take the bus. I managed to get there and back safely before someone slammed into me while I was re-entering the lot, causing major damage. It was his wife, who thought I was a car thief. FML
I hate myself
Today, anticipating another stressful day of work, I left my house with a cluster of thoughts in my mind. It was only when I heard my front door lock behind me, my hand still resting on the handle, that I realised I had forgotten my house keys. FML
Silly idea
Today, whilst out shopping with my crush, I decided to jokingly try on a silly-looking dress in an overly-expensive shop. Apparently I took the wrong size as I couldn't get out. Not only did the shop assistants have to publicly cut me out of the dress, I had to pay for it. FML

Didn't you recognize your bosses name on the card...?
Twisted_Angel 17
The name on the card should have given it away that it was your bosses card. If the name was the same as an employee then you should ask if it's theirs or not before playing Edward Scissorhands.

Smooth...

Waste of a first comment. But personally I would have started laughing if I cut my bosses card! Hopefully he understands and doesn't fire you but if he does cut his neck.

Even smoother when you remember that credit cards have the owners name on them. OP deserves it.

What store do you work for so I know not to shop there?...
evilplatypus 39
98 - Yeah, how dare that store be concerned for people's financial security!
KawaiiCupcake 14
What if OP didn't know the name of the boss or something, or forgot or just didn't look... Things happen.

I really like your recon corps badge from attack on titan

I, for one, would love to cut up my boss's credit cards...

Is it Alanis Morriset's irony?

SmittyKick 18
Thats what I was thinking, while I'm sure the boss can just get a new one and it's not a real problem, op never looked at the name??
junkman6 22
I worked retail in high school and I actually got written up because I returned a coworkers credit card to him instead of destroying it. Just shrug it off OP.
XSimpleDesignX 18
#41 I'm just curious as to where you and OP work(ed) that has that policy. Every job I've had keeps it in the store safe incase the customer comes back for it. (Which a lot do when they track down their last purchase)z
junkman6 22
At the time I was working at Kohls. I dunno if it was the company or just the store managers there but it was a terrible working environment.
Quasita 26
I worked in grocery customer service, and we kept this stuff in tact until we cleaned out the lost and found, unless the card was to the in-store bank.

I left my debit card at Dairy Queen and within 4 hours they had cut it up I'm still pissed about it. It's a DEBIT card jeeez
L0V34L1F3 9
Where I worked, we kept the cards for a week and always checked their IDs before giving it back.
XSimpleDesignX 18
#147 how exactly were they supposed to know it was debit? Last I knew almost all debut cards can be charged. Now I think cutting cards is a stupid policy, but you can't get mad at them for being safer than you with your card. You are the one who left it after all.
llamarachel 5
156- Debit cards say DEBIT on them along with a Visa or MasterCard logo.
XSimpleDesignX 18
Really? Mine has the MasterCard logo, but does not say debit. I CHARGE it frequently because I'm too lazy to type in my PIN and go through a million questions. Every card I've dealt with can be charged. Certain places (like my college bookstore, and pretty much any place the cashier swipes for you) only have a credit option. So as I said, the fact that it was a debit card is irrelevant.

im sorry OP, there is no way you could have known that was your boss's card. you were only following the policy.
jc10x 8
Actually, there is. Unless you don't know your bosses name.
mya55 11
Well, his name would be on it, so there's that. . .

why did I get downvoted?
SuperMew 22
Rizzen, you got downvoted because credit cards have names on them. There was a huge way of being able to tell who the card belonged to.
SuperGrover10 20
Cards have the person's name on them... Was I wrong for assuming everyone knew that already?
Possum_Gurl 13
Except for you know? The name on the card?? But that would make too much sense..
Karcasm 7
Unless the boss has a really common name. Even then, YDI for not double checking that it wasn't your boss's.
salic77 11
Name of boss on card
Weird_situations 13
I'm sure he'll understand if you explain it to him.
KingreX32 21
nope the open will probably get fired. You hear about alot of dick bosses here on FML.

But Edward makes pretty cutout figures

I think she did the right thing. She could be liable if she was caught with it.
valalvax 13
I dunno, "Hey John Smith the cashier is this your credit card" "Hellz yea that reminds me I needed to go on a ten thousand dollar shopping spree"
GAMERZxxHD 25
Your manager can't get too upset. You were following the rules and you had no idea it was their credit card
kbecks87 16
How do you not know your boss' name. Ydi.
GAMERZxxHD 25
That is true. I didn't think about that.
whyisitme12 19
Don't worry, your boss was working your nerves and you secretly got back at him, you knew you saw that name on the card.
littlem91 29
Did you not think to check the name? I really want to know if you told him, or just quietly put the pieces in the bin.
tukies 28
Yup I would have put the pieces in the bin, with shifty eyes and all.
