Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, after paying at the gas station, the cashier stuck out her hand, which was clenched into a fist. I thought she wanted a fist-bump, so I gave her one. She just stared back at me. Turns out she was just trying to give me my change. FML
Today, I was checking out a customer who seemed quite friendly. As I finished, he reached slightly over the counter and I impulsively reached out and shook his hand. He gave me a dumbfounded look and said, "Can I have my change please?" FML
Today, I tried to give my friend a fist bump. He thought I was trying to punch him so he punched me in the face. FML
Today, I was chatting with a customer who comes regularly to my job. He sticks his hand out and I put my hand on his, thinking he's giving me a high five. He was just waiting for his receipt. FML
Sorry Sharon
Today, I tried to high-five someone but somehow ended up slapping them in the face. FML
Gross
Today, while I was working the drive-thru window, a customer sneezed into his hand and then handed me his money. FML
Not awkward at all
Today, I met the old couple I would be house-sitting for. As I was leaving the lady stuck her fist out towards me. After a seconds awkward pause I thought she wanted to fist-bump so stuck mine out and bumped. Turned out she was handing me the key. FML
Gross
Today, I had no choice but to shake the hand of a customer who, just moments before, had the aforementioned hand down the front of his pants, scratching his snowglobes. FML
Pervy perv walks
Today, I was at work as a grocery store cashier. I felt a hand slap my ass. Turning around I saw an old man winking at me and I screamed. When my manager came to deal with the problem she didn't believe me and gave the man a $25 gift card for "the trouble" I caused. FML
Today while at my job as a store clerk, I walked by a family. I smiled at their little boy, who responded by flipping me off. As I was walking away, I looked back in time to catch his dad give him a high-five. FML

Look, sometimes people send mixed signals. Like that cyclist making a right turn who /clearly/ wanted a high five. Or that dude in the gym holding those large things and moving his arms because all he wanted was a hug. Don't let anybody else tell you otherwise, OP; I certainly didn't!

They? Multiple cashiers? But you said "a" cashier. Weird.

At Least you weren't the cashier, so you could get the hell out of there!

As a cashier I can say; we don care we've seen worse and also we actually appreciate silly stuff like that. It reminds us not all customers are assholes so if you have the time or get the chance, please make us laugh, if we have the ability we may even give you a discount

Probably the only post I've actually laughed out loud to. And the Relatable socially awkward moment award goes to..

I've done that before only because I thought I had paid using my card so I was like ummm Okay I guess I'll fist bump you... Would've been more awkward if I didn't work. There tho

I'm a cashier and I've done that, so don't feel so bad.
