Today, I finally summed up the courage to break up with my abusively controlling girlfriend. I don't know what I was thinking, but instead of leaving as a free man, I left as an engaged one. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I finally got the courage to leave my controlling and manipulative ex. He took it well. And by "took it well", I mean he camped out my doorstep, held some of my belongings hostage, and tried to blackmail me into staying with him. FML
Sweet relief
Today, I broke up with my girlfriend. She was ecstatic. Apparently, she'd been trying to figure out how to break up with me for the past four months. FML
Bad timing
Today, I finally worked up the courage to tell my boyfriend that I wanted to go separate ways. Before I could say anything, he proposed. FML
Today, my girlfriend confessed that she was scared that she was more in love with me than I was in her, and that she was afraid I would leave her. So she left me instead. I'd been thinking about proposing. FML
Wrong end of the stick
Today, I went to my girlfriend's house to break up with her. It was a hard decision and both of us became quite emotionally overwhelmed at the time. We began to hug as a final goodbye, then her mum burst in the room and yelled, "HE FINALLY PROPOSED!" FML
Today, after weeks of my crazy girlfriend avoiding me because she knew I wanted to break up with her, I had no option but to do it by text. She told all my friends, who now think I'm a coward who isn't man enough to break up in person. They didn't even ask for my side of the story. FML
What is going on in this FML?
Today, after weeks of doubt and pondering the pros and cons, I finally broke up with my girlfriend, and she burst into tears. Feeling guilty, I tried to console her by saying, "Don't worry, we can still be cousins." FML
Today, after months of arguing and conflict, I broke up wIth my fiancé. Or at least, I tried to. The wedding's off, but only until he can convince me to want to marry him again. FML
Should I stay or should I go?
Today, while trying to break up with my girlfriend, I somehow ended up begging her not to break up with me. I'm still not sure how that happened. FML
Talk about not getting the picture…
Today, I finally worked up the courage to break up with my boyfriend. His parents weren't able to pick him up for 5 hours. I ended up taking him to a movie to kill time and end on a positive note, but now he thinks we're cool and back on track. FML

OP, I feel for you. I have seen a lot of people in relationships like that...the best way for you to be able to get out is to have a lot of friends and family around for support. If you need to...have a few people come with you to break up with her...it will make sure that she doesn't manipulate you back into staying. Then, those friends and family will help you by being around you so that she cannot. Good luck...be strong!

Tell her you're gay and no longer find her attractive. You should probably text her to tell her that though, based on this FML she would probably find a way to keep you with her regardless if you do it in person.

Then she really could be the man in the relationship. I don't see a good ending for him.

Did she threaten you into a proposal or did she break down and cry her eyes out?

I believe that conversation went something like this: OP: "You are an inconsiderate, controlling, manipulative little bitch and I am SO glad I'm going to finally walk out of here. And you know what? Nothing else will ever happen between us because you are a ****. You won't even get breakup sex because I hate you so much! **** you and goodbye!" GF: "I'm pregnant" OP: "Damnit...OK. Let's get married."

Keep planning the wedding. Make her buy a dress and invite her parents but don't show up to the wedding!

No. Even if she's a bitch no girl deserves that. It's devastating and she might even go after him! Plus why should others suffer her wrath on that day? He just needs to grow a pair and leave before it gets worse.

Breaking up with her now is free. Divorce later on isn't. Have a little self respect and break up with her. You'll both just be unhappy if you stay together. I went through a similar situation and I think we are both happier now then we ever were when we were together. Good luck. :)

Something similar happened to a friend of mine. Two kids and a divorce later and he's still trapped. Just get out now before it happens to you
