Today, I declared I was done with online dating after several disasters. My friend set me up with a friend of her husband's. Turns out he's one of the men who rejected me on the website. He laughed when he saw me and said, "Well, this is awkward" and left. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Is this catfishing?
Today, I went on a date with someone I've been talking to online for weeks. Unfortunately, it turns out they'd used old photos and misrepresented themselves, and I didn't find them attractive at all. Even I'm not that desperate. We ended up having an awkward dinner and I couldn't wait for it to be over. FML
Nope, just nope
Today, I went on a blind date that my friends set up. Not only did my date visibly recoil at the sight of me, she ended up trying to convince me that we're actually cousins. When I told her how absurd that was, she muttered, "Fuck it" and left. FML
What are the odds?
Today, I re-joined a popular on-line dating service. I'd first signed up 3 years ago and was matched with a wonderful woman. After about a year, she broke up with me. I was devastated. After two years of trying to win her back, I'd decided it's best just to move on. Guess who they matched me with? FML
Profile pictures
Today, I went on an online date. I'd spent a while getting ready and making sure I looked good. When I arrived at the café, I saw my date and approached with a smile. He stood up, looked me over, and said, "Oh, I thought you were your profile picture’s friend." Then left. FML
Today, after weeks of being hounded to go out on a date with this guy, I finally found the time and invited him over, fully intending to hook up. He stood me up. FML
Today, my "friends" set me up on a blind date with a guy who according to their description, sounded perfect in just about every way. He turned out to be my obsessive ex, and this is their idea of a funny prank. FML
Great meeting you!
Today, I met my online date at a café. As soon as I walked in, I walked straight up to the wrong person, and launched into a 2-minute ramble about how excited I was to finally meet him. He just blinked and said, “I’m married.” My actual date was sitting right behind me, albeit a similar but not as good looking man. FML
Today, a colleague told me he was pretending to be me on a dating site, and that he has four pending dates. Last time I tried being myself, my first and only date pushed me down some stairs. FML
Today, I removed all my online dating profiles. Apparently my ex-husband finds stalking me online preferable to spending time with his new girlfriend. FML
Why do people do this?
Today, a friend showed me my husband's online dating profile, which includes photos of him with our kids. FML

Being single doesn't have to suck! It's great! Being alone, however…

It just isn't fair -- I've been in your place plenty of times before, but now that I'm happily married, they won't leave me alone! Why do I mention this? We're truer to ourselves when we are not trying to make an impression, but ironically, it makes a much bigger impression. I noticed that everyone who is attracted to me seems to be drawn to the same few aspects of me -- my intense personality that doesn't quite fit anyone's mold, not being afraid to work for what I want, being able to make anyone feel valued as an individual, and manifesting all of this in the way I present myself (in other words, not trying to be beautiful in anyone else's way but mine). So is there something you find attractive about yourself that, in the past, others have been drawn to? I hope your answer is yes, and I hope that emphasizing those very best aspects of yourself takes you so many places in life and in love.

I don't know how you thought blind dates would be better than online dates....at least with online you can talk to them first.

Well what should he have done? Go through with the date for how many minutes to be nice enough although both knew they had no interest?

I hate to be that person, but do you ever think that maybe it's your fault?

Huh....sounds like he was a jackass. I'd have at least stuck around for a while, even if i still was not feeling it.
