Today, I called my dad, because I haven't spoken to him in a while, and I wanted to invite him to my graduation in May. When he picked up, I said, "Hey, how have you been, dad?" He scoffed, "Wrong number" and hung up the phone. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got a missed call from my dad, who hasn't talked to me in months and has vowed not to have anything to do with me. I called him back excitedly and apologized for missing his call, and we had a 20-second conversation about how his phone accidentally dialed my number. FML
Today, my father called me for the first time in two weeks since I moved away. Excited, I answered the phone. It was a mistake. He thought he'd called my sister. FML
Today, I received a call from the company I applied to, only to have my father pick it up and make fun of the man's accent. They won't call me back or take any of my calls, and my dad is completely unapologetic. FML
Today, my oldest son answered my phone call much to my surprise as we haven't spoken in a year. The first words out of his mouth were, "I didn't mean to pick up the phone." He then hung up. FML
Today, it's my 21st birthday. I got a call from my deadbeat dad, who I thought had finally mellowed and had something nice to say. Nope; he just told me I'm 21 years a disappointment, then hung up. FML
Today, my estranged father, with whom I haven't spoken in years, called me and demanded to know where his Father's Day gift was. FML
Today, I came home to find my dad drinking. Trying to be cheerful, I greeted him with a "Hi, dad!" He sighed, shook his head, and said "It hurts me when you call me that." FML
Today, my phone rang for the first time in four days. It was my mom. She dialed the wrong number. FML
My way or the highway
Today, whenever I call my father on the phone he never answers, but if I ever ignore his calls he wishes me dead. FML
Today, I called my dad to inform him I was coming home from college for the weekend. Expecting him to be excited, he responded with "why?" This weekend was my birthday. FML

Maybe it was the wrong number.

I hate to say it, but you're better off without him there. It's his loss, even if he's too stupid and/or ignorant to realize it.

I can see two things. 1 the OP has a history of repetitively asking for money or something but can't be arsed actually spending time with his father hence the being hung up on. 2 the father is just an arsehole who doesn't know what he's missing out on. 3 the ops parents separated when the OP was old enough to know what was happening and chose to live with his mother even though she could be the one who left his father and didn't give his father a chance to spend time with him or. 4 he can never be bother just giving a quick call every now and then to see how his father actually is.

I think that's more than two things.

I had something similar happen. I hadn't talked to my father in awhile and then I invited him to my graduation and he said he couldn't because of financial issues (since he lives in California and I lived in Washington). He has a VERY nice house with a pool, had just got a new car and GAVE the old one away, AND I invited him in July when my graduation was in the next June. I stopped talking to him, then he finally agreed to come and brought his two kids, wife, AND mother in law. OP should not HAVE to initiate the conversation. It should be the parent's responsibility, not 100% but still more than the child's. And the fact that he said wrong number despite knowing who was calling is beyond rude.

Well its going to be his loss because you will probably invent something revolutionary or become a multibillionaire entrepreneur and then he'll act like he was there your whole life..... Like i said its going to be his loss!!!!

Maybe if u used proper grammar he would nay have hung up on you. It should have been hey how have you been dad? Not how you have been dad. Geez

Do "u" seriously think you're qualified to correct OP's grammar?

My dad was like this towards my brother for about 5yrs. He kicked him out after his constantly bs. My brother deserved it cause he was physically abusive to me to the point he broke some of my bones, stole from us to sell and buy drugs.

That sounds like something my dad would do..

As someone with an asshole for a dad, you are better off without him. Do not need that kind of nastiness mucking up your life.

If I were you, just don't worry about it. He sounds like he interested in being a father, so you're better off without him at your graduation.

He isn't* Whoops!

I think it was really a wrong number, you should check the number OR your dad is so great.

Everybody always forgets about the dark options in life. Like nobody ever thinks, "maybe I really are a retard?"
