Today, I got a puppy. I just found out I can't bring it on the family trip. To save me the trouble of finding a friend to take her in, my mum handed her back to the pound. FML

Today, I found my dog, who had been missing for over a month, at the local pound. Clearly it was my dog, she responded to her name and cried when she saw me. However, the woman there told me I could not simply take her, I had to follow through with all policies. I paid $250 to adopt my own dog. FML
Today, I went to my father's house to get my dog, since I had left it with him while I was on a business trip. When I got there, my dad said the dog pooped on the floor a few days ago, and so he took him to the pound. FML
Today, I brought back the puppy I adopted for my family. I spent months doing all the research on puppy care with two young children, and at least five hundred dollars for the dog, the supplies, toys… the whole lot. Turns out everyone's allergic to her. FML
Today, my girlfriend broke up with me over the phone, after having left me to look after her dog while she went on a 2-week vacation with her family. Now I have to choose between paying for a kennel for her damn dog or taking care of it every day until she gets back. FML
Today, my girlfriend canceled our date I've been looking forward to all week because her dog was having puppies. She doesn't have a dog. FML
Today, my parents finally fulfilled my childhood dream and got a puppy, after years of me nagging at them. The only downside is that I no longer live at home and he's not mine. FML
Today, after I went to live with my biological mom, after she convinced me she’s been off drugs while I was living with my grandparents, she gave me one of two puppies she'd bought as a gift. Then she got arrested. Turns out she stole said puppy. Some things never change. FML
Today, my mother informed me that she sold my dog to pay off some bills. FML
Today, my mother-in-law "borrowed" my dog without asking, to show him off to her friends. My dog is my service animal, and I'm not comfortable leaving the house without him. I have to be at work in an hour, and she's not picking up her phone. FML
Today, my mom bought me a puppy. I’m single, I work 14 hour days, my life is in no way suitable for pet ownership, but mom won’t take him back because she thinks I need to learn adult responsibility. I’m a senior technician with a team of 17 people, I couldn’t be more responsible if I tried. FML

This, totally. Do you live with your parents? If not, then I would have bitched her out for giving MY puppy back to the pound, when I said I'd find someone to take care of her (that or take her to a kennel!). If you do, did you get permission to buy a puppy? How long did you know about this trip?

Maybe you should have given it more thought, before you decided to re-home an animal. It is a full time commitment to have a dog. they do not stay puppies forever....... next time make sure you are ready before you decide to get it back or get another. not FYL. FML the puppy's life. If you are serious, go get your dog back.

And this is exactly why people don't listen to animal lovers. The OP gave no reason to believe that they had not put thought into the choice to get a puppy. Their mother chose to take the dog to the pound rather than giving her kid a chance to find someone to watch it. Obviously the mother should have thought more about the responsibility, not the OP. I'm surprised she didn't take her kid back to the hospital when she figured out that she'd have to find a baby sitter if she wanted to have some alone time.
