Today, I bit into a piece of homegrown lettuce from my garden. Apparently, I'm not the only one to enjoy my produce, because I took a bite out of a small caterpillar. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Social anxiety
Today, I was eating at my aunt's place with all my cousins and the salad had little green and alive bugs. I didn't want to cause attention, so I tried to pick some off and just kept eating. FML
Tasty
Today, I found out that my kids played around with a bunch of caterpillars they'd found in the yard, then informed me they'd eaten a few. I then had to scramble to Google "Is this kind of caterpillar poisonous?" FML
Today, I was drinking from a cup with a built-in straw. After taking a long sip, I noticed a weird taste. Upon investigation, I found a small caterpillar wedged inside the straw. FML
Today, instead of reaching for some unhealthy food, I tried to eat some dates instead. It was all fine until I bit one in half and saw a rather large, squirming maggot inside. FML
Today, after being a germaphobe for almost ten years and refusing to go out to restaurants because of it, I finally had the courage to face my fear, and went to dinner with my family. After three bites into my salad, I found a dead bug in it. FML
Freakout
Today, while stocking the green beans at work, I picked up a "leaf" which turned out to be a grasshopper. I screamed so loud, my coworkers now think I'm crazy. This is only my second week here. FML
Today, I noticed a small bite on my arm. I couldn't figure out what it came from until I saw a small insect crawling out of my bra. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I were having dinner with my family. He killed a bug and ate it. FML
Today, I bit into a cereal bar and thought the inside was oddly damp. I took a look at it and saw a maggot worm wriggling around. Its friend was in my mouth. FML
Today, I bought a 3 lb bag of pears. The first two bites were delicious! The third bite revealed a worm and its thousands of eggs. FML

Did OP not wash her lettuce thoroughly first?....
Hiktmae 20
Poor caterpillar, he was so young!

What protein? It's not even bigger than the caterpillar.

Nothing like a caterpillar added to your lettuce. Makes it crispier.

I'm willing to bet those are a delicacy somewhere actually, so eat up OP ;)

You should be glad it was just the one, oh and maybe buy some pesticide while you're at it?

Pesticide really isn't good for humans..

A home grown garden sounds lovely. Pesticides are the LAST thing you want. Nothing wrong with a couple of caterpillars, OP just needs to give things a once over before shoving them in her mouth

Actually, I saw something similar in that show, Monsters Inside Me (not a **** parody, lol) and the guy had taken a bite of a snail(not the african snail) that was embedded in his home grown vegetables and contracted a weird brain disease that almost killed him... so yeap, I would think about finding a way to rid his stuff of bugs.

But again, that's not because snails were just around the garden, it's because HE ATE THE FREAKING SNAIL. Which wouldn't happen if he had actually looked at the cabbage and made sure there weren't bugs still on it before shoving it in his mouth.

They're not as bad as slugs so you're good for once

so, out of the two...caterpillar and slug, what would you have chosen to bite? I, personally, neither.

This is actually one of my fears, after a friend's dad found a caterpillar in his salad at Olive Garden. Taking a chunk out of a bug is NOT something I'm interested in doing. :(

What if he did wash it? How's that gonna remove the caterpillar from the inside?
brasiliano 16
It's a leaf there is no inside. and I assume they don't eat with their hand like it is.they break it up and cut it up etc.so wash it when leaves are all separate.

Yeah it was my job as kid to pick and wash the veges in our gardens, 6 years of doing that and not a single critter was harmed

a couple spoons of vinegar. the occasional caterpillar/slug/snail will come right off.

If you were a vegetarian you just broke that streak lol

Did the caterpillar taste like chicken?
