Today, I asked my mom if she thought I was straight. She looked at me and said, "Well, that's really up to you honey. But your father and I would still love you." I was asking if she thought I had parked straight. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mom called me into the living room to say that she had something important to tell me. She then explained how she and my dad had "talked things over" and wanted me to know that they accept me and love me no matter what. Apparently my mom thinks I'm lesbian. I'm not. FML
Denial
Today, at 18, I finally told my mom I was gay. She spent the rest of the day bringing up my "future wife" at every possible chance she had. FML
Today, I finally thought that my mother was okay with me being a lesbian. Then, over dinner, she turns to me and says, "So, do you still think you like girls, or are you going to start being normal again?" FML
Today, I was leaving to go over to a friend's and my parents suddenly ask if I'm gay. I reply that no, I'm bisexual. My mom then asks if I've ever made out with someone of the same sex and I say yes. She turns to my dad and says 'I told you so. You owe me $20'. My parents bet on my sexuality. FML
Uncertainty
Today, my parents bought me a wine glass with "Who needs a man?" painted all over it. Cute, until after dinner my mom looked me in the eyes and asked with complete sincerity, "Kara, are you gay?" My parents tried to get me to come out. I'm straight. FML
Today, I decided to introduce my girlfriend to my parents by telling them that we were gonna have a very special guest for dinner. While my mom was preparing the meal she asked, "What does he like?" I'm straight. My parents thought different. FML
Today, after weeks of thinking and playing every outcome possible in my head, I told my parents I'm gay. My dad nodded and didn't even look up from his book; my mom told me to go to the doctor if it starts to itch. FML
Today, my mom asked me, once again, if my girlfriend of almost a year is just a cover up for being gay. FML
Today, my dad seemed moody, so to lift his spirits, I told him I loved him. He just snorted, "You gay or something, boy?" Really mature, dad, really mature. FML
Uh oh
Today, after having a long talk with my mother about LGBT rights, she told me that she was totally open. I felt completely relieved, being gay myself. Seconds later, she said, "But not for you. I want you to find me a nice girl that can give me lots of grandkids." FML

yeah, her parents are accepting.

decision? you honestly think there is a choice involved? That's like choosing whether or not to have vision. Or hearing. there is no choice involved. Research says that's more true for guys than for girls though.

Who the hell is moderating these? This isn't an FML! You deserve it for this not being an FML!

So what? All you have to say is "thanks for the understanding but I'm not. You misunderstood me" and brush it off. No big deal. This isn't an FML. At all. (Where is the I don't care button....)

this is absolutely not an FML

I don't understand why everyone is freaking out about his. The FML isn't about his parents being accepting, it's about how his mom thought he was gay. I'm not a great parker, and I always ask the people I'm driving with if they think my car is parked straight. Give him a break.

Honestly, I don't get why this is a FML. They misunderstood you but either way if you said you were gay, they'd support you. That's something to be HAPPY about.

Not an FML, is it allowed to use the 'Report Abuse' link for this to get it deleted?? Or will I then be posting an FML under a fake name: "I reported someone on FML, and now I'm banned". Seriously, your Mum said she'd be supportive; and she only said it because you asked (if anything YDI for the question). If you were gay, that doesn't mean you had to have been 'prancing around like a girl' or acting 'gay'. Yes, some gay men are rather effeminate, but there are a lot who are very masculine and 'normal' looking too; so she hasn't said you are anything bad. Anyway, how is being gay an FML? ps - this was really hard to attempt to not offend people either, apologies if this straight boy has.

In my humble opinion, it would be a bit disheartening to learn unexpectedly, that those who know you best have questioned your sexuality. If your own parents wonder, what about someone who doesn't know you very well, but who you were thinking you had a chance with? Straight or gay, I think it's an FML for your sexuality not to be *fairly* obvious to those with whom you're closest.

lol #48 this is not an fml. she probably thought that was your opening line for coming out. that doesn't mean that they think you are cause if they did ur mom would have said something like "it's ok that you gay honey, we still love you" But she still left it open for you to answer
