Today, I applied for a job at a local store. As I walked out the door, I heard the manager read it out loud and everybody else laugh. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was desperately handing out resumes. I came to my local grocery store and asked for a job application, the customer service rep told me all she needed was my resume. I smiled and gave it to her only to see her read it, laugh and put it straight in the garbage as I walked out. FML
Today, I put in an application to my local market for a job that I desperately needed. I was talking to the manager, he seemed pleased with my application and said he'll call me. As he walks into his private office, I hear the sound of a paper shredder. FML
Today, at the job I've had for eight years, I finally got the raise I was supposed to get a year ago. One hour later I found out the store was closing and we were all out of a job in two weeks. FML
Today, I walked into a door on my way in to an interview, in front of the interviewer and a group of people waiting to be interviewed. FML
Donut laugh at me
Today, I had a job interview at the local donut shop. It turns out I misunderstood the position, and that the job was actually to wear a donut costume and wave at cars outside the shop. I was told this after I got hired. FML
Great
Today, I had a job interview at a local business with the owner who was man, and the manager who was a woman. I thought I did pretty well because I heard the manager whisper so, as I was walking out. Then I heard the owner whisper, "No fat chicks." FML
Today, someone came into the store I work at, laughed at my name on my name-tag, and left without even buying anything. FML
The old switcheroo
Today, I had a job interview. I didn't have any clothes suitable for the interview, so I went to the store early and bought some there. After the interview, I went to return the clothes, because they were so expensive. The hiring manager saw me. FML
Today, I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. It was a man with a speech impediment, and I began imitating him. He was the manager of a store I applied at. He wanted to arrange an interview. FML
No coffee for you
Today, I walked into Starbucks for a job application. I asked the manager if they were hiring, as I really need a job. He looked me up and down and replied, "NO!" There was a 'Now hiring' sign in the window. FML

It's not rude actually I know a manager from a music store who does that because if they're resume looks really bad they will laugh at you because of bad it is they do it because it's a good example of what not to do.

If the manager wanted the applicant to improve their CV writing skills then they could have just given some constructive criticism. Mocking the candidates CV, especially in front of other people, is rude, even if they convince themselves that they're being helpful.

33, No one is arguing the point that "being bad is bad", however, to do so behind the back of a candidate that you would not hire for the position to people whom are already employees, as opposed to offering constructive criticism to the candidate, is not only useless, but rude.

#33 it IS rude. The way to give constructive criticism is to call the person in, ask about what they've written, why they've worded it that way and ways to improve..... Not take the piss with other employees behind the applicants back .

33 are you saying that we aren't being rude for laughing at the grammatical errors in your comment because it's teaching others what not to do?

They might laugh now. But just keep trying hard op and you'll get a better job where you don't have to deal with douchebags like that!

Sounds like it would be better if you didn't have to work with a manager like that.

don't let one asshole bring you down.. there's gonna be a manager that would love to have you work for them

Then that sounds like a terrible place to work

That's horribly unprofessional, but if you laugh with them you may fit in. We use to joke all the time in my department, but we kept it away from the public and other departments .
