Today, holding my newborn baby and yearning for some affection from my mother, I asked my mom what the best day of her life was, hoping she would say the day I was born. Her answer? "The day you moved out." She was serious. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I asked my mom what her biggest craving was when she was pregnant with me. Her answer: an abortion. FML
Supportive
Today, once again, my mom ranted about how she sacrificed so much for me by moving to a better city. I said it was for my education and to stop making me feel like a burden. She scoffed, "Right, you never should've been born. My mistake." FML
Motherly love
Today, I felt inspired to create a photo album of myself through the years. As I was organizing the photos of my childhood, I noticed how many my mom was holding me and hugging me in. When she came home from work I jokingly asked, "When did you start hating me?" She replied, "When you were 4." FML
Today, I approached my mother for comfort, because I've been feeling depressed and unloved by anyone lately. She replied, “Honestly, I stopped loving you back when you were a toddler.” FML
You're welcome!
Today, I called my mom to let her know I was coming home for my upcoming birthday, as I haven’t seen my parents in months. She then stated she hated my birthday because it reminded her she was getting older, and they may have preexisting plans that evening anyways. Really feeling the family love… FML
Family ain't all it's cracked up to be
Today, I talked to my birth mother for the first time in over 26 years. Five minutes into our conversation, I remembered why I stayed away. FML
Today, I told my mom, "I love you". She responded with, "What? I never told you I loved you." FML
My life
Today, my mom got drunk and started crying, ranting about all the things she could have done in life if I hadn't been born. FML
Deadbeat
Today, I’m packing up to leave my home and move back to my mother's with my newborn a week postpartum, all because when I was at the hospital, I overheard my husband say to his buddy on the phone that this “father stuff” is way more than he bargained for and that he’s tired of pretending to find me attractive. FML
Hellworld
Today, after my mother, who was a loving and gentle soul, died, I’ve moved in permanently with my stepmom, whom I’d never met. Her very first words to me were, “Let me make one thing perfectly clear: I am your mother now. If you make even ONE mistake, I will literally rip your fucking throat out.” FML

The day you were born? Don't be stupid. That would have been most definitely the most PAINFUL day of her life — unless you had siblings, which were born with super-massive heads — in which case, she might've been somewhat relieved. I surely would be. Then again, I'm a man, and have no plans to ever have kids. Why am I still typing? No one knows, yet here we are. You're still reading. You could've stopped a while back. Uh — err, yeah, bye.

"The day you moved out..." perhaps this isn't because you'd left but because mother was relieved that she'd raised a responsible adult capable of looking after themselves well enough start out on their own...

well this could easily be a YDI. the op could have been like 38 when they moved out. by then i'd be itching to get rid of her too.

Ehhh, I doubt it. If she moved out when she was thirty-eight she would probably be at least forty now, in which case it's pretty unlikely she's be having babies since the risks are much, much higher at that age. But anything is possible, I suppose.

The best day of my life is when my son moved out. couldn't wait. It has been sooo nice that he's not around. You lazy, worthless teenagers need to quit crying when you leave home. You need to find out what the real world is like.

Stop the chain of abuse! Be sure your child will not have to "yearn for affection."
