Today, because money is a little tight, I decided to sell one of my retro video game consoles. The family member that initially gave me it to me saw the ad on Facebook and demanded I give it back to them. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was babysitting a couple of kids. I'd spent time with them before, so I brought my video game console to play with them. I forgot to take it home with me. They soon sold it to another kid for $10. FML
Today, I sold my Xbox 360 on Craigslist. I met the dude at the mall. I gave him my Xbox and a handshake for buying. I left without the money. FML
Trust issues
Today, I decided I'd sell an old motorcycle I had, in order to help with the bills. I had to be at work at the time when an interested buyer was to show up, so I entrusted my mother with the exchange as she's unemployed. Mom pocketed the money and bought a new freezer for her house, and won't pay me back. FML
Today, I posted my phone for sale on Facebook. Someone hit me up to buy it and wanted me to meet them. I didn't really want to drive to them, but I'm a mom of two and I needed food and some extra cash, so I did it. The guy asked to look at the phone… and ran off with it. FML
Today, I came home to find out my roommate sold my PS4, because, "You don't use it anymore." FML
Quick buck
Today, my husband sold a bunch of stuff from our garage to buy himself the latest Xbox. Unfortunately, the clown also sold the bicycle I don’t ride anymore. It was my nana’s vintage bicycle, with original wicker basket, worth several thousand to collectors. He accepted £80 for it on Facebook Marketplace. FML
Today, I discovered that my little brother sold my PS2, 3 and 4 along with all of my games in exchange for credits to use in Fortnite. I've had some of that stuff since before he was born. FML
Gamer bros
Today, I learned that my friend is selling his PlayStation 5. A few weeks ago I bought a PlayStation 5 to be able to play with him. FML
Today, I came home to find that my mother had sold all my valuable collector coins for cheap at a local shady pawn shop to buy herself a TV. The coins in question were worth enough to start a business. FML
Today, someone took my flatscreen TV at my garage sale because some kid snuck a "free" label onto it. FML

Say fine. What’s their best price?

Your relative gave it to you, meaning it is yours to do whatever you want with it. It's in your possession, not theirs. The only way I can see your relative rightfully having it back would be if you two came to an agreement that if you didn't want it anymore you'd give the consol back. If there was no agreement, you have every right to sell it. Your relative will have to just suck it up.

A right? Well yeah. Besides that, you’re getting way too into it. If it was within the left couple months, then yes, that would be awkward, but if it’s been a couple years, then that’s more legit

To raise cash, you should sell something that’s less irreplaceable — like a kidney.

That’s what I did. It got me the cash I needed and now my life is great!

Yup. I would do the same. Retro gaming is sacred. Don't mess with the retro gamer. But I'm sorry you're having money issue, I think we all kinda do these days...

Maybe if you explain why you're selling it, your relative will help you out with your financial situation so you won't have to sell it. If they can't or won't, then explain to them that since it was given to you as a gift, you can do what you want/need with it. Good luck!

Op here I wasn t logged in when I posted this but to answer some of your questions, yes I had the console for a few years and it wasn't working when I got it and I couldn't fix it so I figured I'd sell it to someone that could. I'm keeping the rest of my collection even though they suggested I give that to them "if I wasn't going to keep it anymore(i.e if I decided to sell it)" even though I purchased it when I was a teen. That family member is a hoarder and tends to try to keep stuff other family members are getting rid of or selling.

There should be an option about "everyone sucks" for this cases.
