Today, someone took my flatscreen TV at my garage sale because some kid snuck a "free" label onto it. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I had a garage sale and sold some books I don't read anymore. A woman came up and yelled at me, saying I'd stolen one of the books from her house. I later found out that it was a distraction so that her boyfriend could steal my TV. FML
Today, I bought myself a brand-new 52" flatscreen. It was only in my house for 2 hours before my toddler had a tantrum, threw a toy right into the screen and wrecked it beyond repair. I paid to have a nice TV for 2 hours. FML
Today, I took my new laptop into my house from my car, thinking it would be a too much of a target for kids grabbing it. I came home tonight to find my door kicked in, my laptop gone and my TV ripped from the wall. FML
Today, I received an email from a shipping company telling me they had dropped off a package of expensive electronics at the front door. Too bad someone stole it before I made it to the door. FML
Today, a "friend" tried to sell me a digital camera that I recognized that was stolen from my home a week earlier, along with a few other things. FML
Today, I spent over $2,000 on a big flatscreen TV. My dad insisted I let him mount it on the wall instead of paying someone to do it. All seemed fine, until the TV came loose and smashed onto the floor. My dad refuses to accept responsibility, and says I should've had a professional install it instead. FML
Today, someone broke into my house. They stole my TV, DVD player and a few DVDs. However they only took about 2 out of 100 DVDs. Apparently that's how bad my taste is in movies. FML
Today, I was babysitting a couple of kids. I'd spent time with them before, so I brought my video game console to play with them. I forgot to take it home with me. They soon sold it to another kid for $10. FML
Today, because money is a little tight, I decided to sell one of my retro video game consoles. The family member that initially gave me it to me saw the ad on Facebook and demanded I give it back to them. FML
Ruined
Today, I purchased a brand new television. Not long after the professional who hung it on my wall left, it came crashing down on my hardwood floor. I'm now left with a busted TV, a tear in my living room wall, and a severely drained bank account. FML

Wouldn't you have seen the TV being taken?

That would actually be really funny if it weren't so anger inducing.

But it was funny, that's why I laughed.

OP was probably looking to sell it. Just losing it for no profit is exactly why this is an FML.

I was sad that you had to break it down for them.

Why would you wanna sell a flatscreen TV? Unless it's old crappy, but still!

If someone took the TV... How did OP know there was a "free" label on it? Did OP see the label and leave it there? This makes no sense.

Your picture matches your comment perfectly.

Bastard kid. Damn. Try and track it down so you get paid.

Yes. Go door to door asking for your tv. Brilliant plan.

I'm sure she already got it back. Otherwise how would she know someone put a "free" sticker on it?

Where's Bilbo when we need him?

he's probably the one who took it

What a little bastard the prankster is, although it wasn't the buyer's fault you'd think he would check with OP first for such a great "deal".

Or in this case, such a great steal.

You should have been watching. If someone picks your stuff up and walks away with it then YDI. If they try to argue the price tag, tell them you didn't put it there. If they still argue, tell them it's not for sale. Even free is a price, and you can refuse someone's offer to take it.

I think the buyer decided to take advantage of the situation, and probably knew it was a prank. And how do you not notice someone carrying a T.V.?

Exactly, I'd notice someone walking into my house and walking out with a flat screen. And how did she know someone put a free sticker on it ?

Yeah these facts aren't exactly adding up >.>

I think something more went on that op didn't put in there. Was the flatscreen waaaaay far from op, where someone could have easily taken it?

Better question is, how would you know if the tv had a "free" label on your tv without you seeing it? Because if you saw it im sure you would have taken it off.

Great move. I'll have to remember to take a bunch of labels like that to the next yard sale I go to!

I bet someone, somewhere is honoring your generosity by watching a marathon on there new television.

You'd think people would get our right after seeing a ton of people getting corrected on the internet every day.

I would've kept something so valuable near me to ensure its safety.. or if you walked around your things I would've checked for that sign or someone taking a large object..
