Today, at work, we had an extremely rude customer who started cussing at us, and my coworker started cussing back. I jumped on the register to quickly bring down the line, and apologized to everyone for the scene. A secret shopper was in the line and claimed that I was rude. I got written up. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Unfair
Today, the most obnoxious customer came into my job. She surprisingly scrutinized everything I did. She even mentioned I didn’t offer our store credit card (I honestly forgot due to being overwhelmed by her rude attitude). Turns out she was a secret shopper. Apparently, I failed her little tests. I was fired. FML
Go away, lady!
Today, at work, I had a customer accuse me of taking the giftcard I had issued her for her return, after spending 15 minutes trying to fix her screwed up transaction. She began to yell, and follow me around the store. Security had to intervene and I had to be locked in an office until she left. FML
Let it out
Today, I was working when I delivered the standard "Hello, how are you?" to a customer. He took the opportunity to tell me about his deceased wife, his estranged children, and his anal tearing. After a while, I tried to help someone else, and he complained to my manager. I was written up. FML
Today, I had a formal complaint filed against me for being outrageously rude to a customer. All I did was tell a customer that she couldn't use food stamps at the movie theater. FML
Today, a customer asked a question I couldn’t answer. I asked if she would wait while I consulted someone else, but she spat in my face and stormed off. My manager saw, wrote me up for refusing to help, and gave the woman a gift card for her troubles. FML
Today, a customer at work said his table was dirty. I asked which one he was sitting at so I could clean it for him. For some bizarre reason he got pissed and called my manager over. He ended up reporting us to corporate, and my manager got written up. He's blaming me for everything. FML
Today, my assistant manager was arguing with a customer. I interjected letting the customer know that "we want everything to be copacetic." After the customer left, I received a write up for using "big words." FML
Customer relationships
Today, I assisted a customer at work. She was asking me all sorts of stupid questions and acting like an entitled, spoiled brat. When she left, since I had a mask on, I meant to mouth, "Stupid bitch" but I blurted it out loud. Everyone heard. I was fired. FML
Today, I got written up for insulting a customer last week, who then rang up to complain about my bad attitude. I was on vacation all last week. My boss doesn't believe me. FML
Today, a customer yelled at me so furiously that she sprayed my face with spittle. I had to stand there, smiling and politely explaining that I needed to see a receipt before I could give her a refund. When she finally gave up and left, my boss bitched me out for "provoking the customer". FML

No good deed goes unpunished.

That's why I always carry a little notepad and a pen when I go to a store, look around furtively and mumble into my lapel. They think I'm a secret shopper and treat me like a king.

The customer is always right

Or the customers are sneaky bastard that will argue their way to a free item.

No the customers are not always right. Alot of them use that saying to get what they want from a store... And it works alot of the time, no manager whats an upset customer. I worked at Wal-Mart for 4 years... Seen it way WAY too often.

That's not true

I had a customer ask me how cheese was made. When I finished summing up the cheese making process she told me I was wrong and that cheese was not made from milk. I think customers do that just to piss you off. Either that or she has a screw loose in her head.

Umm store camera?

Forgive me, but I wasn't aware those had sound.

store cameras often do have sound. My boss i well known to sit in the office and listen to our converstions at the regiiister. If he doesn't like what he hears he will even call the register phone and take a side or tell us to shut up.

without sound it would still be fairly easy to see who was doing what. Even on silent camera video arguments are extremely easy to pick out by observing body language. I been in ops place, helping out and then getting the punishment for it.

I would've given my boss a good cussing

..except you can't do that? Because you sir, would then be jobless. You lay your dignity down at the door when you step into a job that's in retail.

More like when you step into a job at all.. If you respect your job and your employment, you won't 'give a good cussin''. That's immature and it shows that you don't give a shit about your employment.

Actually it shows you won't take any nonsense. Assuming you've already explained the situation and they refuse to accept your side.

#90 yes and then when you try to get another job that boss would definitely recommend you as an excellent employee. I'd prefer to keep my job and take the hit. It's already hard to find a job with good experience. Being fired and acting like a asshole would be the worst thing you could do.

93, I think it depends on your situation. If you haven't been there long and there is other work available then why would you care? You can quite easily just not use the person as a reference and move on with your life. People need to learn that they don't have to stay in employment that is not treating them fairly - as is obviously the case - and that there are other opportunities around. This said I'm not aware of how the job market is in their area, so it may or may not be the best advice. But if you are able to find another job then it won't impact you at all.
