Today, a customer asked a question I couldn’t answer. I asked if she would wait while I consulted someone else, but she spat in my face and stormed off. My manager saw, wrote me up for refusing to help, and gave the woman a gift card for her troubles. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, a customer yelled at me so furiously that she sprayed my face with spittle. I had to stand there, smiling and politely explaining that I needed to see a receipt before I could give her a refund. When she finally gave up and left, my boss bitched me out for "provoking the customer". FML
Go away, lady!
Today, at work, I had a customer accuse me of taking the giftcard I had issued her for her return, after spending 15 minutes trying to fix her screwed up transaction. She began to yell, and follow me around the store. Security had to intervene and I had to be locked in an office until she left. FML
Today, I was verbally harassed by a customer because I wouldn’t give her special treatment after her meal was incorrect. I offered her a refund and a coupon for a free meal, which she refused before calling me a stupid kid who wouldn’t do anything to help her. FML
Today, I assisted my first customer at my first job as a Target cashier. When I rang up this lady's items and gave her the total, not only did she hiss at me and spit in my face, but she also dragged my manager over and demanded that he fire me. He did. FML
Today, at work, we had an extremely rude customer who started cussing at us, and my coworker started cussing back. I jumped on the register to quickly bring down the line, and apologized to everyone for the scene. A secret shopper was in the line and claimed that I was rude. I got written up. FML
Today, I got yelled at by a customer for refusing to give a found credit card to a woman it didn't belong to. FML
Worst customers, part 37764
Today, I had to explain to a customer that I couldn't give her a cash refund on a card transaction. She bought the item, and within 5 minutes returned it, demanding a refund. It takes 2 business days for the refund to process. She saw fit to throw an epic tantrum, and I was written up for “upsetting the customer.” FML
Today, at work, a woman screamed at me and called me a bitch because I refused to refund something we give away for free. FML
Customers from hell
Today, I reduced a customer to tears and she had a tantrum, saying that nobody loves her, her life is a joke, and she’d be better off dead. This ordeal happened to grab the attention of my manager who was nearby. All I did was tell her that an item she wanted was sold out and offered to help her order it online. FML
Let it out
Today, I was working when I delivered the standard "Hello, how are you?" to a customer. He took the opportunity to tell me about his deceased wife, his estranged children, and his anal tearing. After a while, I tried to help someone else, and he complained to my manager. I was written up. FML

Good thing you didn’t get written up for wearing spit on your face — that’s usually a dress code violation.

And you didn't beat anyones ass? This seems a bit fishy.

I've never understood these managers that take "the customer is always right" so far that they allow their employees to be abused.

do you work at Wal-Mart? 😂

I worked at Walmart and can safely say that although the managers at my store were dumbasses they had no problem kicking out unruly customers.

I have no idea why anyone thinks it's ok to reward bad behavior. By giving people like that whatever they want just because they're rude and pitch a fit makes the world a worse place.

Have you ever worked retail? I’ve been in a supermarket for 30 years and I’ve seen worse.
Tay94 15
Yes, i currently do, amd never in my 24 years of living have i seen such disrespect to the extent of spitting in someone's face over an altercation in a supermarket. I just don't believe that it happened. That's just my opinion lol

I've worked in retail and in restaurants. You'd be surprised at how abusive people can be. I once had a guy throw a tea cup because I had trouble getting the water hot enough for his tea.

“Her troubles?” Was it dry mouth?

This is why "the customer is always right" trope needs to die. You just do not spit in someone's face. Ever. If your manager saw the whole thing, s/he had to know that you were offering to find someone to help and that she assaulted you. Any manager who is okay with customers abusing his/her employees is a bad manager. I hope you can find a better job quickly.

Not just the manager, but it can be the entire corporation. I work in the frontline of healthcare and we are abused, physically and verbally, on a daily basis. However, there have been times where after an attack, management makes us apologize to patients/visitors because "they are always right" - as in, we deserve the abuse.
