Today, at work, a man walked up the escalator with his chubby kid next to him and asked me where the shoe section was. I said, "For you or your son?" He said, "For my daughter." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, at my job as a cashier, a man and his 3-year old son got in line. The father said, "Give this to the pretty lady," looking at me. The kid looks at me, looks at his dad, and walks over to the next cashier. FML
Shook
Today, a male employee at a shoe shop helped me try on shoes. Once I found a pair, I went to pay for them. I was telling the cashier about how great of an employee he was when she told me there were no male employees. A guy with a foot fetish helped me find shoes. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I went to a furniture store. We split up for a bit, and after a while I went to find him. A salesman noticed I seemed to be looking around for him and said, "Oh, your son is upstairs." We're the same age. FML
Our soles
Today, while shopping for a pair of shoes, I saw a pair I really liked lying around, so I sat down to try them on. Then, a man came up to me and pointed out that they were actually his shoes. FML
Ignored
Today, at work, I was waiting in line to pay my food at the cafeteria when I noticed the doctor who was in front of me had these really cool looking shoes on. I told him, "I like your shoes!" He turned over, looked at me and didn’t say anything back. FML
Today, I was at work at a local hot dog chain. A child (about 10, who I've seen there before) came in to order food for his Dad. He orders very excitedly, and I told him he'd be a great worker here when he gets older. He said "oh no, my Dad says I'm too smart to work in a place like this." FML
Today, while shopping, my dad asked me to walk further away from him, saying I was cramping his style in front of all the chicks there. FML
The difference
Today, I was shopping for socks and I went to look in the men's section. Dad said, "You don't want those, they're for men." I asked what the difference was. He looked around, and then leaned in and whispered, "Men have a penis." FML
That's awkward
Today, I took my wife and our 6 year-old son to a company party. Sometimes I take my son to work with me, so he knows my coworkers. One of them walked over and introduces herself to my wife, and my son says, "Yeah, they go to into the bathroom together all the time during break!"’ Thanks, son. FML
Storage wars
Today, I brought my daughter to work with me. When we walked in, a client was blowing up at my boss, all because as my boss was walking past his storage unit, he glanced in and was about to compliment how neat it was. After my boss left, I had to deal with the aftermath, which left my daughter terrified of this man. FML

Maybe that was his son with him, but he had a daughter at home, and needed to get shoes for her...?

I made a similar mistake a while back. I now refer to any child who's gender isn't obvious as 'the little one'.

He just asked where the shoe section was, he didn't say kids shoes which is why she asked for him or his "son"

everyone who said this is a pure idiot... WHERE IN THE POST DOES IT SAY HE'S LOOKING FOR KIDS SHOES!?!

Actually, your'e the idiot. It never says kids shoes anywhere in there. It says the man wanted to know where the shoe section was and that he had his kid next to him, not ever saying that he was looking for shoes for the kid. How about you learn to read before you try and fail at correcting people, because you are just embarrassing yourself right now, moron.

I'm waiting for the daughter's FML... "Today, I was shoe shopping with my dad. The worker asked if the shoes were for my dad or his son. I am a girl, and I don't have a brother. FML"

Nowhere in this story does the father ask where the kid's shoes are. It's really not a challenge to look back at the story and see the correct wording.

I feel bad for the kid, it's not your fault though, it's the parents' responsibility to dress the kid accordingly.

I was called a little boy as a kid even when decked out in Barbie gear(Which I mainly wore so much pink and Barbie because it bothered me so much then)
