Today, after working another double shift because I want to buy my boyfriend a really expensive anniversary present, I get to his apartment to find him calculating in how many paychecks he'll be able to afford a Caribbean getaway. For himself. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, after having worked two jobs for months to save up for a big vacation, I came home to find my hard-earned money replaced by my boyfriend's brand new motorcycle. FML
Today, my boyfriend used the "this isn't working, we need to talk" line on me. How nice of him to wait this long to do so, just days after we returned from the expensive Caribbean holiday that I paid for. FML
Today, I found out that the money my boyfriend has "secretly" been putting away for the last two months is not for an engagement ring like I'd thought, but for a trip to Vegas I'm not invited to. FML
Today, it was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. We had dinner reservations to an expensive restaurant and planned to see a movie after. At least, we did, until he called to tell me he'd volunteered to work tonight. He won't get off until 2am. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he needed to reconsider coming to see me for financial reasons. I'm the one paying for the airfare, giving him a place to stay, and covering his expenses while he's here. FML
Treat yourself
Today, my fiancée bought me a luxury getaway to the Maldives, complete with a five-star hotel and first-class plane tickets. Too bad she used my credit card, with all the money I was saving for our wedding. FML
Today, I was going to surprise my boyfriend at his family birthday celebration with a $2,000 trip he's always wanted, Ireland. Right before my gift, he had opened his mother's gift, an envelope containing a plane ticket. Guess where it was going? FML
Today, my boyfriend and I are looking at places to stay to meet for the first time. I figured renting a small vacation apartment would be ideal because he's not able to help pay because he isn't working and I'm not rich. He's telling me he can only be comfortable in 4 star hotels. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me to pick up a few things from the store for him while he was at work. After picking up everything he asked for, I wasn't left with much money so I used $50 from my account. When he got home he then grumbled about me spending all of "his" money. FML
Today, I'm on vacation. I spent $4000 to surprise my boyfriend on a trip to Hawaii. We have been together over a year. Turns out, he hates the outdoors. He's mad at me for bringing him here and is upset at everything. He's in the room reading, I'm at the bar drinking $10 Mai Tai's. FML

Eh... 1. Why spend so much on an anniversary present that you have to work double shifts to buy? Choose something meaningful within your price range. 2. So what if he wants a getaway by himself? Just because you're a couple doesn't mean you have to do everything together. Let him have some alone time. 3. It might possibly be a cover-up for his gift. If he wants to surprise you, I think that's a good way. Don't automatically think he's being an ass.

Honestly, if I was just dating my husband still, I'd take some vacations by myself. But since we're married I have to drag him with me when I want to go somewhere. lol. He's only dating you, if he wants to go on a cruise by himself, then let him. You don't have to buy him expensive gifts either.

It's not about being cheap, it's about being logical. Honestly, my anniversaries were usually nice dinners or some flowers. You save the really large presents for birthdays and Christmas. Hell, it's not even a WEDDING anniversary. He probably didn't even remember it. For birthdays and Christmas, Ill spend the big bucks for something that will be very personal to my SO....for the anniversary, it's about something small and meaningful. Why go broke or slave away on double shifts just for an anniversary? pfft.

It's not just that. She's annoyed cause her boyfriend won't take her on a trip with him. You know what, she doesn't HAVE to buy him something worth 2 job shifts, it's a thing called 'common sense', which she apparently doesn't have, or maybe she wouldn't be posting such a selfish FML on this site. "Oh wah I'm buying my boyfriend a super sexy awesome funtime mega 2 job shift present and he's gonna go on a trip by himself". Simple solution: Don't do it and go on your OWN trip?

Oh wah, your boyfriend wants to do something without you. Grow up and get over it. Let him go if he wants a break. It doesn't mean he isn't planning anything for your anniversary and even if it does you shouldn't be getting him something big because you're planning something big. Or maybe better yet, he's just telling you that so as a surprise he can invite you along. Gosh you're such a little brat. I hope he breaks up with you and finds a real woman.

maybe he's going to surprise you later. i can't imagine why someone would want to take a vacation to the Caribbean by themselves. well, unless it was to meet lots of new pretty pretty girls lol

Boo hoo, you're clingy and codependent. Sometimes people like doing things themselves. It isn't necessarily a reflection on you, it just means ... sometimes people like doing things themselves. :P Do you flip out every time he leaves the house without you by his side? God.
