Today, after replacing several components on my new used car, I realized that the reason it wasn't getting the gas mileage it was supposed to because my coworkers take turns siphoning my gas while I work. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Beep beep
Today, I took my partner’s car to fill with gas because mine was in the shop. Out of habit, I put diesel into the tank. We discovered it three hours later; the tow bill ate my weekly budget, the mechanic sighed through the repair estimate, and I spent the evening on hold with roadside help. FML
Friends
Today, my dad agreed to let me borrow the car to go rock climbing with my friends. He'd just filled it up with gas, which is how I realized halfway back home that one of my "friends" had siphoned well over half the gas straight out of the tank. FML
Today, I was sent to a customer's house to switch out a washing machine. My boss had assured me that everything I'd need was already in the truck. Halfway there, I ran out of gas and I realized I didn't have the gas card. My boss says it's my fault. FML
Today, my mom sold the car I've been working on for the last few years for 100 dollars. To buy gas for her car. FML
Conked out
Today, I went to drive my mom's car for a change. It wouldn't start, so I open the hood. Someone had stolen the battery. I go to start my own car so I can drive to the police station to report the theft, and discover someone siphoned off my gas. FML
Baby you can drive my car
Today, as usual, I work nights and sleep during the day. I found out that my brother uses my car and never puts gas in it when he called me for the first time to actually ask me if he could borrow my car, and also to lend him $20 to put gas in it. FML
Smooth criminal
Today, my neighbor's son siphoned the fuel out of my lawn mower and put it in his car. What he didn't realize is that the fuel mixture I use in my lawn mower would ruin his car engine. His dad says it's my fault and actually insists I should pay his pissant son's repair bill. FML
Today, I realized that I spend more money on gas to go to my job than what I get paid. FML
Dumdum moment
Today, after my car died a mile from my house, I huffed, puffed and pushed it back to my house off the street, so I wouldn't get a ticket overnight. After getting it towed to the shop in the morning, I got a call telling me they put gas in it for me and it starts up fine now. FML
Today, I stopped at the gas station to fill up my tank and get some snacks. I paid the cashier, then got back into my car, totally forgetting to pump the $50 worth of fuel I'd just prepaid for. Too bad I didn't realize until my car came to a sputtering stop about a mile down the road. FML

And send it to the boss as well.

wow.. isn't that illegal? you should go to the police and confront them.

Why would OP want to confront the police about it?
imapartypooper 15
So you would be ok with others siphoning gas (which you paid for with your own hard-earned money) from your car? I'll keep that in mind next time I need gas.
ZombieSazza 34
Because it's theft, #74, which happens to be illegal.

How would replacing the parts lead you to that conclusion?
BeautifulChaos27 37
Maybe the OP caught them in the act?
oceanbrickfire 21
It's a used car, and maybe OP checks the tank when they arrive at work and when they leave?
FMLusername969 21
OP thought it was a faulty parts (i.e. oil filter) that was causing his poor gas milage. After replacing them and still having this issue he found out or someone filled him in on what was happening.

Are you flabberGASted at why they would do such a disGASting thing? *I'll see my self out, thanks*

The only reason I'm voting you down is because you've capitalized the joke. I would've voted up, otherwise.

I'm downvoting you because of your see-yourself-out comment. Own that terrible wordplay!

Put a bucket full of sand in your gas tank next time, that will teach them.
Afroninja4566 21
I'm pretty sure that can cause damage to the car
thesmeagol 22
That's the point. Since op likes blindly throwing parts at a car instead of diagnosing the issue. This will allow them to continue doing so.

Blindly? They replaced some things. Maybe those things needed to be replaced anyway. When someone wonders about their gas mileage, coworkers siphoning gas isn't usually the first guess.
thesmeagol 22
No but its pretty simple to see if you actually have bad gas milage. 1. fill your tank 2. drive for however many miles per gallon you should be getting on highway. 3. fill the tank back up You'll be able to tell if something needs replacing if you're way off the estimate. And doubtful as they only replaced the parts becuase they thought they were getting bad gas mileage.

#30 - There is so much naivete in that statement that it made my head hurt.

report their asses to the cops
DeltaDragonxx 20
If you have any hard evidence take that to the police. hopefully you can get the money it took to get the parts replaced and then some from those asshats.

Time for several. one for OP's car, and one for each of the coworker's cars.
