Today, after my mom picked me up from the mall, she asked me what was in my bag from Gap. I wouldn't tell her, and she ended up grounding me. It was her Mother's Day present. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mom took my cell to work with her. When she got home later, she scolded me for not answering her calls. When I pointed out that she'd taken it, she grounded me for "talking back". FML
You OK hon?
Today, my normally very modest and prissy mom came home, pissed off about something. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't say, and snapped at me to "fuck off." She then grounded me for "making" her use that kind of "vile language." FML
Today, I got grounded because I didn't send my aunt a Mother's Day present. Not only is she not married she doesn't have kids. FML
Today, I told my mom I was going on a date tonight. She laughed and didn't believe me. When I tried to convince her it was real, she got mad and grounded me for lying. I had to cancel the date. FML
Today, I realized just how much of a bitch I am when I grounded my son for not telling me what he got me for my birthday. FML
Today, while at the store with my mom, we ran into the girl I recently confessed to being interested in. My mom decided to shout, "IS THAT HER?! IS THAT THE GIRL YOU LIKE?!" Embarrassed, I desperately told her to be quiet. She grounded me for being "rude" to her. FML
How very dare you?
Today, I told my mom about the couple of times that I'd skipped classes during high school. She got really mad and grounded me for a month. That would usually be normal except for the fact that I'm 27 and live in my own apartment. FML
Today, my mom tried to ground me. In the apartment that I own. Because I didn't eat enough of the dinner that I'd made. FML
Busted
Today, my mother asked me if my boyfriend and I were getting serious. I quickly lied and said no. She then informed me that if things ever heated up, she would take me to get birth control. Wanting birth control, I confessed. In turn she grounded me. I'm not allowed to see my boyfriend anymore. FML
Cool your jets
Today, I was a little grumpy. I tried my best to not take it out on other people, but then I encountered that ONE person who doesn't realize that sometimes people are just in a bad mood, and they proceed to give you a hard time over nothing. That person was my mom. And then later my dad. Now I'm grounded. FML

Reminds me of a different FML when the mom grounded her kid for not telling her what he got her for her birthday. At least in that one she realized what a bitch she was.

Sucks. Shoulda just said it was a present. I've used that before when my mom walked in on me rolling up

Why didn't you say it was a jumper you bought yourself.....

I would have shown it to her and been like "well there goes your surprise. Ill be in my room, knock if you wanna ruin anything else today"

...did you tell her it was a surprise for her or did you just flat out not tell her anything? If you told her it was a surprise for her and she grounded you, then YLS. But if you just refused to tell her what it was, YDI.

You should have told that bitch to take you back to the store so you could return her present since she doesn't deserve it anymore. Parents abuse their power way to much, but it's alright honey. Go to college and move out, you don't EVER have to talk to your parents after you leave. Putting your abusive parents in your past is a huge weight off your shoulders.

C'mon now, kind of excessive to call a grounding abusive, or a reason to cut ties with your parents, deserved or not....

But you're Satan?

If it was from Spencer's I can understand the grounding...but honestly I don't think it should matter what you got...it's best to keep a gift under wraps (no pun intended) no matter who it's for...

And that's when you tell her "it's a surprise for you, y'know, since Mothers Day is coming up". If she still thinks you should tell her what it is, show it to her. It is her surprise that gets ruined, not yours, and it might just teach her to give you some damn freedom. Some parents really don't understand that just because it's your kid doesn't give you absolute power over his/hers life.

"It's your Mother's Day present."

After she grounded you, I would have taken out the present for her, show it, and then smash and throw it into the garbage, telling her to think about that next time she asks what you bought.
