Today, after having my tonsils removed, I coughed so hard in my sleep that I woke up spitting blood. Turned out I'd ripped my throat. They had to put me to sleep and cauterize the damaged area. Now I'm in even worse pain than before. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, after a very painful mouth surgery, I went home to take a nap. Then my nose started bleeding, so I stuck a tissue in it and fell asleep. When I woke up, I was so high from painkillers that when I saw the tissue, I thought it was a ghost. I screamed so loud I burst a stitch. FML
Today, I had a dentist appointment in which a nurse numbed my mouth. After coming home, I took a nap in which I unknowing bit through my top lip. I physically can't speak. FML
Today, I got my tonsils removed. My body also agreed that today was a good day to get a bad cough. My bed currently looks like a scene out of "Dexter". FML
Today, I woke up from my wisdom tooth surgery… while they were still sawing my jaw. I had such a bad panic response that they also cut my lip, so I have stitches inside and outside of my mouth, as well as the haunting crackle of bone being removed from my skull stuck in my head. FML
Today, I had a cold and was vomiting. I sneezed really hard, smacking my nose onto the toilet seat. I woke up a few minutes later with my nose bleeding, painful, and still stuffy. FML
Today, I got my wisdom teeth removed and took the pain medicine that the oral surgeon prescribed for me before bed. The pain actually did go away for the most part, until my stomach decided to betray me and make me throw up, forcing my jaw to open more than it could after surgery. FML
Today, I got my wisdom teeth pulled. Apparently the medicines don't work on me. I woke up in the middle of the surgery and felt EVERYTHING. One of the nurses asked if I was okay, and the doctor just kept saying "Don't worry she's just dreaming", while tears were pouring down my face. FML
Today, I noticed one of my toenails was getting super long, so I cut it. In doing so, I accidentally ripped it off and it started bleeding. As I went to get something to stop it from bleeding, I got a huge splinter in my little toe, causing a painful infection. I think I should just go back to bed. FML
Today, I woke to find a pool of my own blood all over my pillow. Frantic to find the source of the blood, I rushed into the bathroom and tripped over my too-long pajama pants. Crashing to the floor face first, I broke my nose. Turns out I had just bitten my lip in the middle of the night. FML
Today, I got a nosebleed. For 7 hours. I ended up in the ER. FML

Ouch! At least you woke up instead of choking to death on your own blood OP, but the pain must be unbearable. You have my sympathy.

A few years back, I had my tonsils out. My throat started bleeding unexpectedly at 11pm and it was actually pooling in my mouth. I had to sit upright all night, swallowing my own blood (if I spat it out it kind of rushed out and I couldn't breathe) until 8 in the morning when the surgeon could fix it up. It is really scary and really horrible , I feel OP's pain!

Sounds very unpleasant. I have respect for people like you and OP for pushing through such painful and terrifying experiences. Personally the worst injury I've ever received is a broken pinkie toe, so I wouldn't be able to relate to you or OP. But I'm glad you lived through it with no permanent harm and I hope you don't experience anything like it again :)

In the hospital, sure, but not at home. They usually give you a script for Lortab or Norco or the like.

when you have your tonsils removed and your throat cautirized it's still painful even with morphine unfortunately. I learnt that the hard way.
