Today, my girlfriend's father sent me a text message that simply stated "You ruined my relationship with my daughter." I wanted to ask him for his blessing to marry his daughter. FML
Today, I proposed to my girlfriend at a dinner with our two families. Not only did she flatly reject me, my dad said, "Good call. He's not ready." FML
Today, I told my girlfriend's father that I wanted to talk about his daughter. I then went on to tell him I was thinking about 'popping the cherry', instead of 'popping the question'. FML
Today, my girlfriend's dad called to say she wasn't allowed to come with me on a three-day trip on New Year's. He waited until Christmas to say it, even though we booked and paid for the trip nearly a month ago. Now he ruined both holidays. FML
Today, my girlfriend's dad offered me $100 to break up with his daughter. I eagerly replied "No", but my girlfriend grabbed the money and said, "Deal." FML

To assume that OP will sightsee with his GF and won't have sex with her is ignorant. To assume OP's GF won't get pregnant from one night of sex, even though the chances of conceptions are low, is ignorant. Therefore, the father isn't necessarily being an ignorant. He's just jumping the gun before it shoots.

33, I don't know if you know this, but a good portion of people don't have sex to have kids, but condoms and even birth control pills can give you a chance for having a baby. Being "on the pill" only works 99% of the time. I don't think OPs girlfriend's dad wants to take any chances. I know I wouldn't if I had a daughter. Now, the only question is: how old is OP and his girlfriend? If they're 28+, I would let them have at it, but remember, if you don't want a child, I wouldn't take many chances.
