Today, a group of carolers was coming up my street, so I went out in the cold to wait for them. When they finally arrived, I waved and greeted them. They huddled up discussing something while pointing at me, then skipped my house. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my family and I went over to our new neighbors' house, to sing a carol and say hello. The only response we got was a door slammed in our faces. FML
Today, I went caroling with some family friends. We got pelted with oranges. FML
Today, as I was walking home, I passed some little girls who threw a bunch of snowballs at me. I dodged every single one, ran away laughing, and gave them the finger. I then ran into a snowman. FML
Merry Xmas
Today, a friend had invited me to Christmas dinner since I have no family close by. When I got there, she told me that her and her husband had forgotten they had another dinner to go to, and asked if I would watch their kids for them. They each grabbed a handful of cookies I had baked and rushed out the door. FML
Today, I went to a nursing home to sing Christmas carols to the elderly. They threw their bananas at me. FML
Today, I went outside to enjoy the cool air without my glasses. I saw my neighbor doing the same, so I waved and said hi. When she didn't respond, I yelled and went back inside. It was only later when I went back out with my glasses on that I realized I was being ignored by a Halloween decoration. FML
FREEBIRD!
Today, I was singing and drumming on the steering wheel in my car while stuck in traffic, only to realize the car next to me was full of my carpooling coworkers, all staring at me in disbelief. They spent the day at the office requesting songs. FML
Today, my car broke down. I had a two mile, up-hill walk ahead of me. About half way up the hill, a car beeped. Thinking they were poking fun at my misfortune, I began to curse and use obscene gestures, only to find out that it was my neighbor asking if I needed a ride. She drove off. FML
Today, I went over to my mother-in-law's house to have dinner. I was excited she invited me, since I thought she didn't like me. I ended up hanging her Christmas lights in a snowstorm while they had s'mores by the fire. FML
Today, I tripped and fell on the sidewalk. As I did, a car that was passing by stopped, made a U-turn, and then came back so the people inside could laugh at me. When they were done taunting me, they made another U-turn and continued back in their original direction. FML

lol since when did Obama go supersize
ImaginaryFoe 1
I think so. It's like when the various religious people come to your daughter soliciting souls. If you welcome them in and try to have a frank dialogue about God and religions, they get freaked out and leave. Apparently where OP lives, standing around waiting for carolers is suspicious activity.
ImaginaryFoe 1
I meant to type door but I somehow like daughter better.
TheWicked 4
Weird, I like daughters better than doors, too.
jckbco 0
exactly, on the conversing... most religious people, especially ones who come to your door, just want to have you believe exactly as they do!
gooBUZZ 0
Haha OP try not to be so scary next time lol. Also, were** Good day, sir.
gooBUZZ 0
No, I'm quite certain it should be were. "He was", "They were".
chippa 24
No... The mod is right. *A* group—singular—*was*.
gooBUZZ 0
I don't even understand half of that lol, but OP said "carolers", so I'm assuming that's what changes it. If OP said group instead of carolers, then it could be "was". I still think it's supposed to be "were".
chippa 24
The subject is still the group. If it had just said "Some carolers," the verb would, indeed, be "were." :S
xFaust_fml 12
Nope, "a group" is considered the subject here.
gooBUZZ 0
Hmm okay then. Guess that's why I don't get A's in english lol.
Bee_fml 2
I'm going to ball bust and say that the correct word is, indeed, "were" :-)
gooBUZZ 0
Thank you, #17. :D
ImaginaryFoe 1
Ironic. It actually says "were" now and I was going to make a similar remark about how it should be "was".
Bee_fml 2
I retract my previous statement. Alan is right.
ohthebloodygore 16
What?! It's were, right? Stop changing it, mods!
gooBUZZ 0
Aww Bee, you suck. I thought someone was on my side. :(

so what happened to good ol comments about the fml and not blabbering on about correct ******* grammar, spelling and gay shit that has nothing to do with the ******* topic.. get a ******* clue and stop trying to act like you're no. 1 forum *****.
ImaginaryFoe 1
Alan's mum is quite correct. Please do leave it as "was".

where's docbastard when you need him, he'd know
TheWicked 4
Was is indeed correct.

^ it would also explain the FML if you leave the "of carolers" out. Today, a group was coming up my street, so I went out in the cold to wait for them. When they finally arrived, I waved and greeted them. They huddled up discussing something while pointing at me, then skipped my house. FML
DocBastard 40
Jezzibell, thanks for the vote of confidence, but pendatik has already settled the issue. The singular noun "group" is the subject of the sentence, and therefore the singular "was" is appropriate. Anything that comes after "of" is irrelevant and does not change the verbiage.

Don't you learn this stuff in elementary school?
iliveinthesky_fml 0
Alan's right. My class discussed this last. semester

I can't believe that argument really just happened...worse I read through the entire thing...FML.

Stick around, DeathBat. You will see stuff here that will make your hair boil and your blood curl. Wait, no...reverse that.

8- Normally when you quote, you not only put quotations, which you did, but normally you'd also state where it came from.
TheBatmayne 0
Haha no, it's was.
HitchHiker42 18
No, it would be was, because they're taking about the group, not just the carolers.

Looks like you got off lucky. The "carolers" in your area, were actually theives according to my FBI intel. They would sing and distract you, which in turn, would corrupt your mind. In about a weeks time, you would go insane, and commit suicide. Thus, leaving your hone vunerable to a burglary. Do NOT open doors for carolers kids.

Thats nothing new, Jehovah's witnesses have been doing that for ages

Why did you have to wait outside? You could've stayed inside and then when the carolers got to your house, you could have gone outside. That probably would've freaked them out less. Don't you think?

that sucks. what mean ppl

MoniV6661 0
