Today, a girl called me a racist, stereotyping asshole. All I did was ask a kid who happens to be Asian to tutor me in math. Which I didn't do just because he's Asian, but rather because he's in college and is actually a brilliant mathematician. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
It's maths
Today, a professor approached me in the hall to ask if, since I'm a math major, I could tutor one of her communications majors in a required Calculus course. Apparently the volunteer tutor the school provides "is a complete dumbass." I'm the school's volunteer tutor. FML
Today, I was accused of being a "racist whore" at work. I'd only asked a man if he needed help finding anything, as that is part of my job. FML
Today, at a tutoring center, one of the tutors looked at my worksheet and laughed. She then showed all the other tutors my mistakes and they laughed along with her. The best part? They all speak Chinese and they think I can't understand them. I'm Chinese. FML
Technically Correct: The Best Kind of Correct
Today, my teacher called me "stupid and ignorant" for referring to myself as Asian. I'm from Pakistan. Pakistan is in Asia. FML
Close call
Today, I called the Vietnamese teacher at my son's kindergarten by my Chinese colleague's name. Luckily, she didn't catch it. I'm not a racist, I was just tired after a long day. FML
Today, in calculus, our substitute teacher told me I was smart. Everybody in the class, including my friends, burst out laughing. FML
Today, as I went into my calculus class, the teacher announced that someone had received a negative grade on the test we were getting back. I laughed and said, "Which f*cker managed to get a negative?" Turns out I'm the dumbass. FML
Today, I was playing a math game with a 4th grade boy (I'm a college graduate). I cheated during the entire game, and still lost 7 of the 9 rounds we played. FML
Today, I asked my teacher if he could tutor me for my upcoming exam. He said he'd look into it and let me know later. I later got called to the principal's office because my teacher claimed I'd propositioned him for sex. FML
Today, the parent of a student called to ask me about a homework assignment. At the end of the call, she told me that I seem to be losing my "Asian accent" from when she first talked to me in the summer. I was born in the US, grew up in NJ and speak perfect English. FML

Just walk away, not worth the argument or explanation. Let her think whatever she wants. You know the truth.

I was going to say that!

Was there a need to ask who the Asian tutor was? Could OP have just asked who is your tutor?

Yeah, I misread the FML.

So sick of all the racism cards being played all the time. Yes, racism does happen, just not as often as people make out it does.

True, true, but it seems people use it without their better common sense either now too.

worse yet, it's being used by someone who's an unconnected observer. people are so quick to judge and they also don't understand the difference between prejudice and racist.

It's not racism, if it's true.

Racism is the belief that one race is superior to the rest. Prejudice is a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Most people are prejudice, not racist, and most people don't know/understand true racism.

I hate people who are over sensitive about racism and make innocent things into big issues.

Yeah that in and of itself is a display of racism

Once upon a time racism was a form of segregation imposed by people who had the lack of enlightenment to understand humanity. This was a very serious issue for centuries. The 21st century, however, seems to confuse this with stereotypes. Because of this, people who have no care for humanity will assume they can manipulate others based on their racial differences, just like OP's FML here. What the most depressing thing is, really, is that it detracts from how people actually suffered, notably during the 18th and 20th centuries from actual racism.

People will get offended at anything. Don't stress about it.
logicnazi 18
Some people can't control their stress that easily, your should be more considerate when telling people what to do.

Are you really judging sensitive people? Wow, check your privilege shitlord. Privileged cis white males don't deserve the Internet for this reason. #socialjustice

People nowadays believe every action is racist. I would just blow it off. Our world is just becoming over sensitive about racism.
