Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I went to see one of my favorite bands. When they started playing my favorite song I whipped out my video camera and sang along. As I was reviewing the video later, I realized that I couldn't even hear the band over my horrible singing. FML
Today, I found out that my favorite band logo is no longer being used by said band because of copyright issues. I have this logo tattooed on my body. FML
Today, I found out my ex-boyfriend's band has become quite popular on YouTube. My friends and sister won't stop singing their songs. Most of them were written after I dumped him, and go on to say how much better off he is without me and how horrible I am. FML
Today, I found out that the very good-looking woman who sings for one of my favorite bands is actually a guy. FML
Today, I made a couple of videos of me playing guitar and singing some of my favorite songs. I got back from school to find my family huddled around the camcorder, laughing, imitating, and making jokes about the video. FML
Today, I attended a musical. A new song was played, and I thought I'd heard it before because it sounded strangely familiar. I sang along quietly as the song progressed, positive I knew it. Anticipating the next chorus, I belted out the lyrics with all my heart. It was instrumental. FML
Today, I was introduced to a YouTube musician called S3RL. I was listening to a playlist of his music all day. Then of course when I went to pick up my girlfriend, some song came on that was just exaggerated sex moans pitched into music. She stared at me then burst out laughing and called me a pervert. FML
Today, I was in a band with some friends and we got our first gig at a local festival, but I'd already agreed to work serving drinks at the festival. My bandmates got really annoyed and kicked me out of the band. They then went ahead and performed the song that I WROTE, without me, at the festival where I was working. FML
Today, my band got booed off stage. FML
Today, while taking a shower, I was enthusiastically singing one of my favorite songs. When I got out, I noticed a bunch of things missing, and a note on my desk, saying, "Shut the fuck up, you suck." I was robbed and judged by a thief. FML

This is how all art works; nothing to get your panties in twist over.

Think of it like this. Who actually writes their own music these days anyway?

Real artists do. Not pop garbage artists.

Most rock bands, pretty much ALL indie artists, a few pop artists, the list goes on.

If you're referring to pop, then yes. But I think it's unfair to say that all don't. Many, many other genres write their own music.

I'm not sure what type of music you're listening to or what artists or whatever but I know the bands I listen to write their own original material. If you go to my profile and check out the bands (not hip hop artists) that I posted as my favorite bands currently, all of their material is original, not copied off others. Then again none of the bands I listen to are bands that you would probably ever hear on the radio lol and I'm not saying this to say I listen to better music or anything, just stating that not all musicians do that stuff.

Lol, 56, no offense, because I do enjoy those bands (especially OM&M), but those are metalcore bands, and with metalcore bands (AA especially) comes metalcore breakdowns. It's always the same one note palm mute chug that almost EVERY metalcore band uses, hardly original. I will admit though, AA's new album, From Death to Destiny, steers more towards normal metal and hard rock, rather than metalcore. There's only two or three songs I can think of on that album that have the typical breakdown.

A lot of people do but other artists like to write for other artists because they enjoy writing and in different genres and they think the song will suit them and not themselves and people buy the rights to the instrumental parts to the song or they could get done

Not ALLL indie bands do that's not true if anything it would be the other way around I would probably say

That just means you have twice as many bands to love!

Was this by chance the WatchMojo top 10 list? Because there were some good bands on that list like the Doors, CCR, The Rolling Stones etc

Doesn't matter, artists always sample or use older songs. Doesn't make it a bad thing unless the new version is just shite. I mean look at Buble, he's putting his own touch on tons of old songs doesn't make him a bad artist.

Even artists who are singer songwriters will often write with/for other artists. It's no bad thing though, many great hits aren't written by the singer

Does it even matter if you like the music?

They could be cover bands no?

WatchMojo?

I'm not entirely sure why, but when I read this I read 'songs' as 'thongs.' It created quite the mental image...
