Today, I was told to rub in my sunscreen because I looked like a ghost. I wasn't wearing any. I'm just that white. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, while filling out paperwork at the dermatologist's, it asked what color I would use to describe my skin tone. When the nurse saw that I chose fair, she mumbled, "Ghost is more like it." I have a severe sun allergy. FML
Today, I was called a wimp for getting a sunburn. FML
Today, I decided not to wear any makeup. I got told 13 times at work that I looked ill. FML
Today, I was really badly sunburnt, so I put on some after-sun. The only type we have has glitter in it, and now I look like a sparkling tomato. FML
Today, at a science-fiction convention, a woman came up to me and told me that my white face paint was a mess, my contacts looked cheap, and my costume was an all-round failure. I wasn't wearing a costume, I'm an albino. FML
Today, I used sunscreen on my face. Said sunscreen was expired and I had an allergic reaction. FML
Today, I was badly sunburnt even after making it a point to apply a lot of sunscreen. My coworkers thought it amusing to slap me every chance they get. FML
Today, I'm so pale, my boss asked me whether I light up in the dark. FML
Today, it was hot out, so I wore shorts. My dad took one look at me and said, "Your thighs are so pale, it's like staring into the sun". FML
Today, I got a spray tan. The lady asked what shade I wanted to be, and joking, I said the darkest. She took it seriously. Now no one can recognize me, and I have work tomorrow. FML

Your skin is beautiful as it is. Forget about everyone ouy there addicted to tanning. I never get what all this changing your skin, changing your hair, etc etc is all about.

I've never had to deal with that, but several of my friends have. I think you should just be happy you only look like a ghost and actually aren't one.

I feel your pain OP. Own it and don't worry what anyone says, you'll tan while you're out there :) If it does bother you though next time just put on a tanning spray a couple days before you go anywhere you're wearing a swimsuit to and get a light tan. I've pretty much learned I have to at the beginning of summer or use a spray tan(some look natural if you use the right ones)

some people are too pale to get a tan (cough me cough) and thats okay..

I know what that feels like. I'm the palest one of all my friends and family, and someone went on a date with me but told his friends he wouldn't talk to me again because i was so pale. Also, spray tans can be good, just do it right if you're going to. And no tanning beds.
