Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my father told all of us that he eloped with his girlfriend of two months. I'm engaged to the woman's daughter, and have been engaged since before they met, but now my family is making fun of me for marrying my "sister". FML
Today, my two closest friends declared that they hated each other. They're my bridesmaids. The wedding is in three weeks. FML
Today, I overheard my boyfriend talking to his mom about me. It sounded like they were planning something for me, like a marriage. They were planning how to break up with me. FML
Today, I called my mom to make sure she could attend on the wedding day my fiancé and I had discussed. She started off with criticizing the venue we considered, then went on to criticize my fiancé, and then stated she would under no circumstances help out, but demanded to pick my wedding dress. FML
Today, a week after my fiancé and I got engaged, his mother is already complaining that she isn't involved enough in the wedding arrangements. We haven't even set a date yet. FML
Today, I overheard my mother telling my sister that she expects my marriage to fall apart any day now. Apparently, I have no concept of what "marriage" really means. My husband and I just celebrated our 7th anniversary, while my mother is planning her 5th wedding. FML
Today, my wedding is scheduled for next week. Today is also the day my whole family had an epic falling out, resulting in my mother disowning my brother. Apart from having them taking turns sobbing at me through the phone, they're also not coming to the wedding. I paid the hotel rooms in advance. FML
Today, I found out my little sister is marrying my ex, and that my mother set them up. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's sister, who only got engaged a couple of months ago, is getting married before us. I wouldn't have a problem with this if she wasn't planning her wedding to be exactly like ours will be. FML
Today, my ex-husband and the woman he left me for, also known as my sister, are getting married. On my birthday. My mom is gleefully helping plan the wedding. She seriously sees nothing wrong, and tells me to “stop being a Bitter Betty and be happy for your sister.” FML

You don't live to make them happy..live your own life.

I feel bad for you. Talk to them and maybe you can make them think positively.

They are probably pretending to like him because it is not their duty to like him- if he makes u happy then they have to support u.

They must know something you don't . . .

Doesn't matter, get married... Or find out what their problem is first... Good luck op.

Would it have changed your mind about marrying him? They probably kept quiet because they love you and didn't want to put a wedge in your relationship with them. ***I've had girlfriends that I couldn't stand their BFs but kept it to myself because that's who they chose to be with and it's their life, not mine to interfere.

Hey that means they want you to be happy. Most families would tell you hey I hate him dump him, but they love you and want you to have the life you want

I would definitely have to have a polite chat with both of them about talking like that behind my back. And I do mean polite. Let them know you weren't trying to eavesdrop, but you heard the conversation. Thank them for not being rude to him for your sake, then ask them what it is that's bothering them about him. Maybe it's something important they've picked up on you need to know, maybe it's just a simple personality clash that can be worked on.

I think this may be one of the most sensible comments I've ever read on here..

Thank you. I suffer a terrible allergy to drama & have found common sense and reason are both pretty good cures : )

Maybe they see something you don't, I would ask why they feel that way...before its too late.

I'm sorry to hear that! It's horrible that they would pretend that for three years, but you know what? It's YOUR fiance and YOUR wedding, so they should just be happy for you and support you. :)

It's horrible to try and be nice to your child's fiance? To know you don't really like them but you'll suck it up for their sake? Would you prefer if they were open and were horrible to the fiance? Because I'm pretty sure that's a worse fml. It sucks that they don't get on but families aren't always perfect. I'm not sure if this is the best or healthiest solution but I at least appreciate the effort...it isn't easy to pretend you like someone.
