Overjoyed
Today, I got a letter from Yale Law School saying I got a 4 year full scholarship. I called my dad crying and read the whole thing… even the bottom of the letter, which said, "April fools' ! Love, Mom and Dad." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML
Today, my mom called and told me I got accepted to my first-choice college. I got really excited and asked her to read me the letter. As she started to read it, she said, "Oops... uh, nevermind." FML
Today, I found out that my dad, thinking it was an advertisement, threw away a letter from the college I applied to. FML
Today, I was cleaning my father's study room and wondering why I did not receive my acceptance/rejection letter from a college I really wanted. I found the acceptance letter, on his desk, also approving of a full scholarship. The deadline to confirm was a month ago. FML
Today, I got a large envelope from a college I applied to earlier. My mom, expecting big news, made my family gather round as I opened it. It ended up being a letter of rejection from not just that school, but all three campuses of the state college. FML
Today, my parents gave me a letter they'd forgotten about since late last year. In it was a $30,000 scholarship to a local master's program with an application due date of two weeks ago. FML
Today, I found out I won a 20 000 dollar scholarship. After celebrating with my family by jumping around the room for a half-hour, we realized it was addressed to someone else with the same last name. When we called to tell her, she said it was weird because she had received my rejection letter. FML
Today, I excitedly told my mom how I got accepted to the master’s program of my dreams. She decided now would be a good time to proudly repeat for the millionth time how she gave up a full ride to the Ivy League to marry my father, and I ought to be a "good woman" and do the same. FML
Today, I got my acceptance letter from Harvard University. Yay! Unfortunately, I sent it as a joke, never thinking I'd get accepted and I have absolutely no way to get there, or the money to pay for it. FML
Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

That's crossing the line for an April Fool's joke.

Wow, it must've seemed legit enough to be a real document which tells me they put a lot of time into it... And for that, I'm not sure if they're awesome or assholes.

I don't think thats crossing the line. I mean it wasn't hurtful. I found the joke to be kinda funny.

April fools or not, I would be so damn pissed at them for that. It's hard enough to get into Yale, let alone on a scholarship!

What a cruel joke.

Next year have a friend dress up as a police officer and pretend you were in a fatal accident. April fools mom & dad!!

That's going way beyond the limit. Not right, you don't mess with someone's life for your satisfactory.

Yeah... Make sure you don't take it like a joke - everything is quite serious here. :P

I think it's harsh to say they don't deserve to be parents, based solely on this. Some families are much tougher on each other and no one seems to mind. We also don't know how bad (or good hehe) OP's pranking history is etc, quite a few factors.

Should've sent them a letter from a lottery company/something legit saying they've won millions. Or that their house is getting repossessed. Karma ;) how would they like a taste of their own medicine :D

I'd disown my parents over that.

You could just announce that you or someone you've been seeing is pregnant... (I don't know OP's gender)
NeinKittenz 20
OP should say they're having a baby, if OP's male: Surprise! If Op's female: get a trustworthy male friend to pretend to be a dead beat drug addict that can pretend to be a father.
