Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend's 16-year-old daughter got a job. I'm 29, with a Master's degree and I'm still unemployed. FML
Today, I found out my 20 year-old daughter has a 46 year-old boyfriend. She met him at her job. When I objected, she told me that I can’t tell her “heart” what to do because she’s “grown” and “in love.” I had to teach her how to wash and she still leaves dirty pads on the floor, but sure, she’s “in love.” FML
Today, I met my boyfriend's mother for the first time. She greeted us holding a baby, and I told her how cute her son was. She told me that it was her grandson. Turns out my boyfriend is the father. We're 16. FML
Today, my boyfriend, who's a bit older than me, introduced me to his daughter. I was expecting a toddler. Nope, she's a year older than me. FML
Today, after graduating from the same program, I was offered several jobs, while my boyfriend wasn’t. He couldn’t be happy for me, saying, "She got in with the right people, and they just keep handing her jobs," and dismissing my work ethic. FML
Today, I found out that the 19-year-old I've been seeing is really 26, with two kids and a pregnant fiancée. I'm only 17. FML
Today, my daughter got engaged. Her fiancé is not only 25 years older than her, but was her teacher in middle school. FML
Today, I found out I'm going to be a grandfather. I'm 29, my son is 13 and the girl in question is 16. FML
Today, I’m 16 years-old, father to a four month-old baby, and I have no idea what the fuck I’m doing. FML
Today, I'm 36 and accidentally got pregnant with my FWB, a 28 year-old bartender. I told him and he broke down and admitted he’s actually only 19, an unemployed college dropout who lives with his parents. I didn’t believe it until I saw his driver's license, date of birth 2004. So much for child support… FML

I mean, she's looking for an unskilled, low paying job, and you're looking for a career to fit your master's degree. I'm sure your job is more competitive to get with less spots available. Hard to compare what you're looking for to what she's looking for.

Unless you both applied to the same McDonalds I don’t see the problem here.

What types of jobs have you applied for due to your Master's Degree?

Unless she is now a chemist or something like that, I wouldn't even worry about it. Celebrate her success, your time will come

To be fair, even if they HAD applied to the same McDonald's, the daughter would likely have won. A lot of "unskilled labour" jobs won't hire overqualified people because they worry they'll have one foot out the door the whole time.

Are you wanting a minimum wage job working twelve hours a week? If not, don’t be rude to her online. Grow up. Maybe that’s why you don’t have a job.
