No! Noooo!
Today, I told my parents I was pregnant. They yelled at me until I started crying. I'm 31, married, and I have a good paying job. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I told my parents I'm pregnant. I got a long lecture from my mom about using protection. It would have been fine hearing all that, but I'm turning 22, I moved out a few years ago, have a full time job with great benefits, and am getting married next summer. FML
Today, I announced my pregnancy to my parents, expecting them to be thrilled. Instead, they were furious. Apparently, being unmarried and on disability means I can't raise a baby. FML
Today, my parents posted on Facebook that they were excited that my sister was pregnant and couldn't wait to be grandparents. Last week I told them that I, a 33-year-old happily married woman, was pregnant and they told me I was ruining my life and encouraged me to have an abortion. FML
Today, my parents are freaking at me because I just got my report and I failed my first year of college. They told me they have never been more disappointed in me. I have to tell them that I'm also pregnant. FML
Today, I got fired for not being mature enough. I just found out I’m pregnant. FML
Today, we told my fiancé's parents that I'm pregnant. His mom's response? "I'm going to throw up. You can't raise a child." We are both 28, self-sufficient and everyone else is thrilled. FML
Today, I woke up to my father sobbing his eyes out in the kitchen. Apparently, I screamed, "DON'T TELL THEM I'M PREGNANT!" in my sleep last night. FML
Today, my husband and I told my parents that I finally managed to conceive. My mom burst into tears of joy and said how great it was that she's finally going to be a "real" grandma, all within earshot of our adopted and now-devastated daughter. FML
Today, I happily announced to my parents that I'm pregnant. My dad later handed me a printout containing a list of nearby abortion clinics. FML
Today, I told my dad that I'm pregnant. He shook his head and said, sadly, "What a waste. You're way too young to throw your life away like this." Silly me; I was worried that at 46 I might be too old for this. FML

Sounds like there's more to the story.. Is the husband an ex con? Or abusive? Or unemployed? Have they been married or together long? Do they live far away from family? Do the families have a history of hereditary disease? History of this woman being emotionally destroyed by miscarriage or stillbirth? Are there mental health problems in the families? Are the parents-to-be both emotionally sorted? Do they have commitment problems? Did this hormonal woman over-react to a blase reaction? Is she and the husband in debt? Plus being married and having a job isn't reason enough to just pop out a kid. Babies should be wanted, not needed. Maybe they feel like it hasn't been thought through enough and feel like this couple is just doing it because of the "nothing completes your life like children" bullshit. Or maybe the parents are just butts who never approved of anything this daughter did or selfish bastards that aren't ready to be grandparents yet. Anyway, it's obviously irrational to react that way to that kind of news (unless you're still a child) but there's not enough information here to pass judgement.

I was also thinking that perhaps the spouse isn't exactly a trophy and they were probably hoping the marriage would end.

Yeah there's always more to the story, but it's fun to watch all the speculation.

Well there must be a reason they are mad. Maybe they don't think your capable of raising a kid or maybe they don't like your husband and don't want you having a kid with him? I'd talk to them about it and if they still are mad then whatever your an adult. They will get over it.

Stress is bad for the baby; I would avoid them during your pregnancy if they think that behavior is okay.

PS congratulations on the big news! I wish health and happiness for the both of you!

Keep your chin high op , they'll come around eventually. More importantly, congratulations on the pregnancy!

I feel your pain! My mother was upset both times I told her I was pregnant, and made me feel horrible - I was married, owned a house, good job. They eventually came around, but it still really hurts, and they're 7 and 9 now. I'm currently 4 months pregnant, and still haven't told my mom because I don't want the pain of her reaction.

I completely understand why you don't want to deal with your mother's reaction. She'll have to know eventually, though -- will her reaction be better or worse if you wait? Maybe you could tell her via a letter or email, and explaining in it how her reaction the last times made you feel and that you would like her to spare you that?

Has she given a reason why she's so upset with you having kids does she love her grandchildren?

#27, When your mom ask you why you never told her, tell her that. She ****** up with your first two pregnancies.

#27 - I don't know if it will be better or worse if I wait. But I bought her some soothers for a Christmas gift, so we'll see if she burns our turkey next Friday, LOL. #39 - She was mad about the first because I didn't wait to let my older brother have kids first. And the second because they still hadn't had luck getting pregnant. My two are the favourite among 7 kids now though. #42 - That's my plan if she asks why I didn't tell her sooner!!

That's the dumbest reason I've ever heard.

Wtf? Lol my sister and i had BETS going on who would get married and pregnant first. She won (but with losers as husbands, yes plural) but the funny part? Shes 11 1/2 years older than me!
