No laughing matter
Today, I got a text from my cousin saying that he's gay. I was thrilled and told him that I'm bisexual. He later texted me saying that his friend took his phone and said that. He also told all of our relatives. I accidentally came out to my family. FML

What a pustulent gaping dickhole! Whether his text was sincere or not he should have been touched to have it received supportively, and shown his gratitude by not gossiping what was plainly told to him in confidence. OP your family may have found out you're bi, but you all also found out your cousin is disloyal and dishonorable, which should upset all your decent relatives WAY worse. So hopefully this incident helps you weed out who's worth staying close with and who isn't.

You could tell them you just said that to try to be supportive. Or... you could just own it and stand proud. This coming out was kind of like getting a band aid ripped off, painful at first but less painful in the long run.

Don't call yourself bisexual if you've never ****** a bicycle

Those down votes are from snowflakes.

As someone who's called a snowflake pretty often, even I don't get the down votes. The comment was clearly a joke! I laughed.

Whilst it was not the ideal way it should have been handled, at least you no longer have the anxiety of having to tell your family anymore. Hopefully they'll be supportive of you, being bi, or gay is nothing to be ashamed of.

If he can make up some bullshit excuse, so can you.

You should play it off as a joke since everyone knows there’s no such thing as “bisexual.”

People still grab people's phones and text "I'm gay"? Your cousin should reconsider who he is friends with. Unless he is 10yrs old. But then again, he did tell your business to everyone. Do maybe him and his friend are actually great for each other. Two beautiful idiots.

Who needs enemies when you've got a cousin like that !

No, you accidentally came out to your cousin. He was the jackass who told the rest of your family and deserves to never be talked to again.
