Today, my brother came out to our family as being gay. My mother starting crying because she "wanted grandchildren." I told her that I was planning on having children. She started crying harder. FML

Today, my brother came out to our parents. They weren't super happy with it, but they said that it was ok since they still had a straight son. I don't know how to tell them that I'm gay too. FML
Today, I came out to my mom. I had an epic speech planned, and when I tried to tell her, it all fell apart and I started crying and just said, "I'm gay." After a few seconds silence, my mom sighs and says, "Duh." FML
Today, at 18, I finally told my mom I was gay. She spent the rest of the day bringing up my "future wife" at every possible chance she had. FML
Today, after having a long talk with my mother about LGBT rights, she told me that she was totally open. I felt completely relieved, being gay myself. Seconds later, she said, "But not for you. I want you to find me a nice girl that can give me lots of grandkids." FML
Today, I went to family therapy because my mom wanted the family to be closer. When asked what her biggest disappointment was in life, she turned to me and said, "Having a gay son" then patted my hand, smiled, and said "No offense, honey." FML
Today, I introduced my girlfriend to my family for the first time. My mother's immediate reaction was, "We didn't know you were gay!" No mom, she really is a girl. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me that he was gay and that he is in love with my younger brother. FML
Today, I told my parents that I'm a smoker. My mother started crying, and said she worried I was gay, but this is almost as bad. That lead on to part two of my confession. FML
Today, my sister came out of the closet. By which I mean she came out as the pregnant mother of my boyfriend's child. FML
Today, my son decided to come out of the closet by wearing a shirt that said "Mom, I'm gay" to the family reunion. FML

er #150, no they don't. I have nothing against gays but get your facts right. Children from gay couples are more likely to be spoilt and rebellious, also more disobedient and not sticking to rules. they also feel like they need to stand out, thus being attention seeking.

I see why she would be upset about not having grandchildren if she only had one child. I want a huge family one day so if I found out it probably won't happen, I would be upset too. Then again, just because you're gay doesn't mean you won't have kids. There is adoption or a surrogate mother.

#5 no I wasn't. He was trying to be nice when he said that, but she took it totally different. Example: Your brother was hit by a car. You say at least I'm alright. It's just kind of like adding to the fire. Who cares if your alright? Deep down your mothers glad your alright, but your brother was just hit by a car. Also she probably has very strong beliefs and that probably really upset her. It's a very touchy issue for some families. Not everyone is accepting as you wish they would be.
