Neverending shift

Today, I started a new job as a resident at a rural hospital. So far, nobody has been able to tell me when the shifts were officially supposed to end. They told me they just "leave when we're done with all the patients." I work on a 24/7 emergency station, and I guess I now also live here. FML

The word "resident" is quite literal in this case.

If that was me, I would've taken his statement as it is. Look around, see how many patients are in right now at this very moment. Then leave, when they are done.

I’m sure the department of labor (or its nearest legal equivalent in Switzerland, anyway) would be very interested in hearing about this.
