Never mix business with pleasure
Today, the girl I work with, who I’ve developed feelings for, started dating another guy at work. She’d told me that she “doesn’t believe” in dating coworkers and she doesn’t “shit where she eats.” FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my coworker began flirting with the new guy at work and accepted a date with him. I’ve been trying to get with her for months and she'd told me, “Sorry, I don’t fraternize with colleagues.” I called her out on it and she told me, “OK, I’ll spell it out for you: I do fraternize with attractive colleagues.” FML
Today, the coworker I have been hitting it off with rejected me. Apparently she has a crush on another male employee. An employee who is married and somehow has three other girls in our store actually fighting over him (I've heard arguments). She thinks she has a chance? FML
Today, I was going to ask out a girl I work with, only to find out that not only is she in a relationship, she’s also a lesbian. FML
Today, I found out that a girl who I really liked at work, who is my manager and with whom I'm friends, and who knows I like her, has been secretly dating someone else who works there for a month, and everyone at work knew except me, because she didn't want to tell me. FML
Today, I found out that the coworker I’d been crushing on told me he was gay so I wouldn’t hit on him anymore. Turns out he did that so he could focus on wooing a female coworker of mine. They’re now dating. FML
Today, the girl I’ve had a crush on for months told me she scored a Tinder date and she’s so excited to go out with him. Just last week, I worked up the courage to ask her to be my girlfriend and she told me she doesn’t want a relationship, and “doesn’t believe in love anymore.” FML
Today, after “talking” and flirting with my team lead for a few months, we started dating and I quit my job, which I really liked, and started working somewhere I didn’t just so we could be together. Now, two weeks after quitting, she breaks up with me. FML
Today, I found out that the co-worker I have been dating and falling for is the same co-worker that had been spreading rumors about me and getting me in trouble with my boss. FML
Today, I found out that the girl I’ve been trying to get at from my job, and buying her stuff for, got caught kissing another guy at my job, who hasn’t done shit for her. But yet she says she cares about me. Actions speaker louder than words. FML
Today, I told some coworkers I’m dating a new girl. One of my female coworkers then burst into tears. For the rest of the day, women in the office were giving me dirty looks like I broke the poor girl's heart. Um, I asked her out twice, then politely gave up when she rejected me twice. FML

Here's the thing. Lots of men don't take "no" well. They can get persistent or violent. So women have learned that they *have* to give what sounds like an insurmountable excuse. "I don't date coworkers" or whatever. It's bullshit. But it's not her fault that she had to bullshit you, for fear that you'd make her life hell if she doesn't. Take it as a permanent "no" and don't try again with her, even if they break up. She's not interested in you. You have to just let it go.

She’s right, you know. Failure to follow her own advice will end badly for her. As for you? Start avoiding her and find someone better.

To be fair, lots of people have convictions that fall apart when they actually have to test them.

that's smart on her part. if you want to date her once she's single see if she has feelings for you and get another job. never date someone you work with. 9 out of 10 times it ends in disaster.

Translation: you're not attractive enough to get her to shit where she eats. The other dude is so hot, she's pooping all over her dining room table! Strange turn of phrase, don't you think?

she's not into you at all. she could have just said no, but instead have you a crappy mean excuse. if she's cordial to you, just move on. if she's rude or mean to you now, then report them to mgmt if there's a no dating policy at work.

let her deal with the blowout when that relationship goes sour. DON'T date coworkers, cuz it always gets awkward to downright ugly when it ends and someone often loses their job

A friend asked me once, “Why would you care for someone that doesn’t care about you?” The question hurt at the time, but it got me thinking why I am the way I am.
