NDA FML
Today, my old company merged with a new one. I was calling our old clients, and ended up speaking with a reporter who was investigating our company for fraud. I now have a meeting with the CEO tomorrow morning. I just started. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, the company I was fired from three years ago merged with the company I work at now. The new owners' first order of business was to fire me again. FML
Today, I was informed that the company I work for has been taken over by the previous company I worked for. I left that company with a burn-out, after years of 60-75 hour weeks, so I'll soon be working for them again in the exact same department I so happily left behind last year. FML
Today, at work, I accidentally walked into a meeting at which the whole company was there but me. The meeting was about how they could legally fire me while paying as little severance as possible. I'm the CEO and the founder of the company. FML
Today, during work hours, I took time off and discreetly went for an interview for a prospective job at our rival company. As soon as I reached the place, I bumped into my current boss. FML
Today, I got a surprise raise and a promotion at work. Hours after accepting, our company was raided by police on fraud charges. Due to my new managerial position, I had to get grilled by cops. I may not have a job at all next week. FML
Today, the CEO of my company wanted to meet with me. I was excited until I found out she just wanted to bitch me out and personally fire me. Later on, I found out my boss had totally shafted me and blamed the failure of a big project on me instead of admitting it was all his fault. FML
Today, I got a call from the only company that asked me to come in for an interview of the many applications I submitted. I answered it even though I was at my current job. My boss heard and chewed me out. The call was to cancel the interview since the position was filled. FML
Today, I travelled cross-country to interview for my dream job. The team seemed to love me and I had a lot of fun. In the airport on the way home I saw a news report that the company is closing. FML
Today, it's job interview day. In the elevator on the way there, I overheard potential candidates talking about the boss of the company, mocking his alleged lack of credibility. Who's the boss? Me. They don't know that yet. FML
Today, I got a new job and told everyone about it. A few hours later, I got an email from the executive saying I actually don't have the job anymore. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

It's only a problem if they've really committed fraud. And if they did it's their own fault. Also, you can't be blamed for talking to a reporter just a few days into your job, unless your bosses spelled it out clearly on day one.

Should be common sense NEVER to give a statement to a reporter. “I’m sorry, I’m not approved to give PR statements. Please give me your email address, and I’ll see if I can connect you with someone qualified to speak on this matter.”

yeah and I can't imagine following the given script with a reporter would have mattered, they would have had to been asked interview questions, or given some sign it was an interview. somewhere here OP went WAY off script, and either didn't catch on, or did something they knew they were not supposed to be doing. If your not PR, just say no.

I don’t get it. Was it your old company, or you just started?

some mergers come with the added annoyance of being "re-hired" at the new company for a job you already have. depending on the laws where op is, it could reapply probation periods, provide a couple months of no benefits before going back to what they had etc. basically, it makes you an employee with no real protection for a while.
