Living my best life
Today, I got to live my life's dream of going whale watching. Apparently my true life's dream was to get extremely seasick, sunburned to a crisp, and pay $60 to see only seagulls in the end. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I overcame my debilitating seasickness long enough to have a shower and take a breath of fresh air on the cruise ship balcony. Then as a reward, a passing seagull shat on my head. FML
Today, after a stressful series of events, I went to the beach to unwind. I sat on the sand, breathed in deeply and closed my eyes, trying to find some sort of inner peace. Then a seagull shat on me. FML
Today, after an 8-month wait, I went on my big vacation. The beach, the sea, the dive, the jellyfish, the allergic reaction, the hospital. FML
Today, I boarded my very first cruise, in order to relax and unwind for week-long vacation. However, when I got on the ship, I found out that I get seasick REALLY easily. FML
Today, after pulling an all-nighter, I fell asleep at the beach. My friends took the opportunity to bury me in the sand, place food all around me, and wait for a flock of hungry seagulls to attack me. To top it off, they taped it all. FML
Today, I bought a delicious $17 lobster sandwich at a restaurant on the beach. The seagull who zoomed in and ripped it out of my hands as I was about to take the first bite seemed to enjoy it very much. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I went on a 1 day cruise to the Bahamas. It happened to be on the same day of the worst sailing conditions. We spent 6 hours throwing up together. Him into the sink, and me into the toilet. We spent $200 to see the inside of our cabin's bathroom. FML
Today, during a boat trip with my boyfriend's family, I got seasick and went to the side of the boat to puke. A current rocked the boat so badly that I fell overboard, prompting a panicked rescue and my boyfriend's mom muttering that I'm a pathetic attention whore. FML
Today, I got bitch-slapped by a walrus at Sea Life Park. FML
Today, I found out the hard way what it feels like to have a seagull poo on your face while cycling. FML

Well now you can exact your revenge on the entire species by becoming a Japanese whaler and hunting them as revenge for them dissapointing you.

There's always a silver, no, gold lining somewhere! OP you just need to find it! When that sunburn wheres off it will be a tan. If your skin is like mine that is.

Whales are full of false hope, and blubber, lots and lots of blubber.

Man, do I know what being sunburned feels like. During lifeguard training, I was neon red the whole damn time.

These are all things that can happen on a trip - I've never seen one locally that guarantees you'll see anything. They do their best but it happens. The seasickness is a shame though.

Sorry to hear that! If you decide to try it again, first take something so you don't get seasick! Dramamine I think? And sunscreen will prevent the burn. I'm not sure where you live, but if you can get there the whale watch in Hyannis, Massachusetts is amazing. I've been on it 3-4 times in the past few years and we always see tons of whales. Good luck, OP!

Maybe consider taking a cruise somewhere? I saw many whales (among other things) on a cruise to Antarctica, and most cruise ships stock dramamine patches that help seasickness tremendously. Hope you get to see your whales someday!
