Happy Feet
Today, an old lady rear ended my car the light. Her explanation was, "It's a new car, and when I take my foot off the break, it just rolls forward all on its own! I don't know what's wrong with it!" FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was forced to look on in utter horror as an old lady backed out of her parking space, kept going well past the turning point, and slammed straight into my car, putting a dent in the front and shattering the headlights. FML
Today, a woman pulled out in front me and I couldn't avoid hitting her. When we pulled off on the side of the road to inspect the damage, she backed into me. My car is only a month old. FML
Today, a 75 year-old lady drove into me. Her excuse was, "I wasn't looking." Awesome. FML
Today, I got rear-ended. An old woman got out and came over to my car window. I thought she was coming to apologize and trade insurance companies. Instead, she poured her soda on my head, ran back into her car, and drove away. FML
Today, an old lady hit me with her car, after which she said, "Oh! Not again!" FML
Today, while at a stop light, I was rear-ended by a car behind me. The guy got angry at me, because according to him, I should've known that his car has poor braking distance, and so I should've moved forward a few more feet to compensate. FML
Today, the person I was driving behind put their car in reverse and backed straight into me. I was then yelled at and told, "I had my reversing lights on! Why didn't you move?!" FML
Today, while in the drive-through for Taco Bell, I hit the car behind me after forgetting my car was in reverse. It was in reverse because I was worried the old lady in front of me was going to forget she was in reverse. She didn't. FML
Today, a car hit me. I didn't get hurt, but someone called 911. The old woman who had hit me got out of the car with no problem to look at me, and gets back into the car. When the police arrive, she pulls out crutches and said I made strange faces and made her hit me. I got blamed. FML
Today, I was driving when a woman started crossing the street against the light at the upcoming intersection, so I slammed on the brakes and stopped short of hitting her. That's when she intentionally jumped onto my car and started screaming that I had "mowed her down". The cops believed her. FML

I agree your life sucks, but I also think if she was driving the same car previously for 10-20 years and the previous car didn't have the 'creeping' thing most cars had/have, she may really not used to it. Over the several cars I've owned, the movement with no petals pushed varied in speed and power depending on the age and type of vehicle. Most Automatic cars have it, your transmission is built with it. But some used to not to have it!

All the comments on here make me question why people are taking their foot off the brake when they're stopped anyway, automatic or not, unless their cars have an auto- function... Even if the road looks flat there's still often a slight incline that means you could roll. and if someone rear-ends you, if you've got your foot on the brake you might not hit the car in front of you...

still not a valid excuse am insurance company would buy.

the large majority of cars have it. it's hard to believe that she'd never even heard of the concept before. even if that were the case she knew her car did that and in manuals youre supposed to hold the break in traffic anyway so her excuse is nowhere near valid.

Well no shit, but she's old and dumb. I'm giving an explanation why it may have happened, not to out her blame.

That was the second hardest thing about switching to an automatic for me. Have definitely almost hit people. (actual hardest was resisting the urge to stomp on the parking brake when coming to a complete stop)

you use a parking break when stopping in traffic ? odd choice

The parking brake in my new car is where the clutch was in my old one. If you've never driven a manual transmission, the clutch is the pedal you push in when you stop or change gears.

And this is why old people shouldn’t be allowed to drive. Even if she’s not “used to it”, you think after realizing it does that, she’d keep her foot on the brake and not take it off.

I'm going to throw out a situation where she obviously uses the brakes to slow down to a stop, but has been able to lift her foot before with no problem in her previous car. Now she has to get used to it. If she took it off to reach and grab something? Obviously you're not suppose to take your foot off the brake, and my comments above I'm not abolishing her from the blame. When you drive for so long you get in a routine of what you're used to. The woman is incompetent.
