Gamers rise up

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I had to decide between buying medicine and buying food. FML
Today, I was babysitting a couple of kids. I'd spent time with them before, so I brought my video game console to play with them. I forgot to take it home with me. They soon sold it to another kid for $10. FML
Today, because money is a little tight, I decided to sell one of my retro video game consoles. The family member that initially gave me it to me saw the ad on Facebook and demanded I give it back to them. FML
Today, I spent my afternoon rummaging through old jeans and other pants, due to being broke and needing cash for ramen. FML
Today, I had to sell my phone to pay for the phone bill. FML
Today, after I bought a gaming system two days ago, for too much money, to distract myself from all the horrible things going on in my life and the world, it broke. So now I’m trying to distract myself from the thing I bought to distract myself. FML
Today, I had to go buy diaper rash cream. For myself. FML
Today, my fiancé and I had a fight over household expenses. He's never had a job in his life, but this didn't stop him demanding that I get another full-time job to pay for video games and beer. FML
Today, I have to go on a diet, because I can't afford to buy bigger clothes. FML
Today, I realised I sweat so much that I won't be able to go without sticking super pads with wings to my shirt underarms everyday. It makes supermarket trips interesting. Especially as a man. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

Look into reusable pads (they aren’t as awful as they sound - they feel a lot cleaner than store bought disposable ones). I haven’t had to buy menstrual products in a long time, they’ve saved so much money. If you’re crafty, you could even sew some yourself. Don’t sell your games!

Just use TP in your underpants or put a rag in as a pad. I have extra pads I keep around bought on sale in case I need them. I'm probably good for about 45 years.

Keep the games. It doesn't look like you'll be using your hoo-hah for anything in the foreseeable future.

I dont like using TP. My flows much too heavy it destroys it within an hour and the clean up can be messy and horrible. Rags on the other hand i havent thought of

I’ve never heard of reusable pads. Sounds like a life saver though thank you!

I know it's not a serious problem (games vs tampons\pads) in life. Though, as a woman I've been in similar situations - period supplies, or that thing you want that will make you happy, ...not bleed, give you awful cramps and turn you into a cow for a week (or for myself, more of a bitch than usual hahah). Too bad there isn't a time of when this was or a contact to the OP. I'd be willing to send some tampons\pads their way.

Just use tissues man, they can get u by

Tissues? My period used to destroy an overnight pad in less than an hour.

You are either a guy or have been blessed with light periods. Tissues and toilet paper and paper towels do not work for heavy clotty periods. #beentheretriedthatgotmessy

You could try menstrual cup. It's a bit more expensive at first (the price of about 3 packs of pads where I live). They're easy to wash and reuse, and one you get the hang of it, you won't ever need pads again. Best investment ever (and eco friendly too!)

You know...i would have suggested that, but since i saw them using pads and not tampons, I wasn't sure. Those things have a STEEP learning curve. i mean, especially so if you're a virgin, Haha. And then you have to not panic when trying to remove it, Haha. My sister would never even give that a chance if she heard about it because she's super squeamish about seeing blood, but if you're not, and you wash your hands before you use it, and after, you're good. Also gotta make sure to keep the cup clean and all that, but honestly only having to change it twice a day makes you forget you're even on your period for most of the day, Haha. It's an investment, and you may still want a backup, especially if you try too many times and need to not use anything up there...but that hasn't happened to me yet luckily, and I've been ok with relaxing while taking it out, or just trying again later after I get over whatever made me not able to do it then. I haven't even mentioned to anyone that I use it because someone brought one up saying how gross it is. I have a special sanitizing container I use to boil it. I clean mine every time I use it. I sanitize it before and after I'm done. I clean my hands before during and after because...I want to make sure I don't put anything dirty up there. and I make sure the cup is clean before use. Soap and all if I can't boil it

Try organizations that give away food. Either they will have pads they can give you or you can take their food and buy pads with the food money.

Check the couch cushions and walk down the street for spare change. I get $2 packs at Walmart every month that last me a cycle and a half. Of course, I’m lucky enough to have a pretty light flow and use the thinnest pads I can find. At least, where I live, any small pack enough for a cycle would cost $4 or less, but I understand the struggle of having absolutely no money for anything. If all else fails, borrow a fiver from family, friends, or a neighbor (or hell, ask for a few pads from someone!).
