Today, I went to a bar with my best friend, and some guys came up to us and started flirting with her and offering her a drink. I felt a bit left out and started joking that "I'm thirsty too". One guy looked at me, cringed and said, "No, I don't buy drinks for weird girls." FML

I guess you could say the thirst was real.

And what do we call women who think they can sponge off of men who have no interest in them what so ever? Pigs would be if they expected to have sex because they bought a drink. Men who have preferences and standards are far from pigs.

If I was your friend and heard that, I would have said, "Oh, well I don't accept drinks from douchebags." But that's just me I guess.

Unfortunate, but some people aren't clear when they are joking. There are plenty of people that pretty much expect the guy to also get them a drink and he thought you were out right asking him to which would be a bit weird and rude. So you kinda walked into it for making the joke in the first place. It's an odd position to put someone in. Also the way it was worded " I'm thirsty too" not sure there is away to say that with out it sounding rude in that situation or weird and how they'd tell whether or not you were kidding in noisy place.

I sure hope that when you offer to buy a lady a drink, you don't completely ignore her friend(s) like this guy. In just about any situation, it's pretty rude to offer one person something and not offer the person who is with them the same thing. I don't go to bars often, and when I do I'm not looking to pick anyone up, but when I strike up a conversation with someone and want to buy them a friendly drink, I always offer their friend / boyfriend / girlfriend / brother / sister one too. It's just polite.

But, yeah, if I was at a bar and a guy was flirting with me and offered to buy me a drink, but didn't also offer my friend one, I'd be pretty surprised and offended, and he definitely would NOT be getting my number.

Nothing wrong with being weird. I would've bought you a drink.

Well he didn't say your ugly, so it's really just that you're not whorey enough. you should consider it some kind of victory

Two things: 1) *you're 2) No #40, you do not call a person you've never met before in your life a *****.

I'm a strange girl myself. However, I clean up pretty nice and carry myself in a way that a person who does not know me, would never know, if I chose to hide it. Your friend should have done what I would've done, and pretended to be the strangest girl in the bar, (perhaps burping out loud, making monkey sounds, and alternately slapping him in the face) and freaked him the hell out, pretty or not, dressed differently or not, we're all weird. He's needs a new perspective on life.

I do love animals. :) not sure about having a monkey in the house though... Can you imagine the stains they would leave. Ugh.

I'm just curious as to what your best friend did after hearing that douche's response? If she ever heard it at all. :)

Am I the weird girl here on this thread ? When I'm thirsty, I buy myself a drink. When I like a guy, I buy HIM a drink. When I feel left out , I manage to make people laugh and get them interested in what I have to say. When a friend of mine is not being treated well, I bite the other's person head off . What I don't do is expect men to pay for me because I have asked them to.

OP wasn't expecting a drink either. Re-read the part where she said she was joking.

How about you re-read the part where she said she felt left out.

I wouldn't call you wierd 45, i'd call you Awesome.

no one jokingly says something like that, it put the guy on the spot, and if someone tried that on me, I wouldn't buy her a drink either, granted his reply was probably a bit mean

I hope your friend turned him down after that

I tend to agree with #45, that it was pretty rude for you to put him on the spot to buy you a drink just because you felt left out. Guys typically don't like needy and saying "I'm thirsty too!" because you aren't getting attention...needy. So much needy.

Please re-read the part where she said she was joking. And yeah, while it wasn't rude of them not to be interested in her, it was rude of them to answer that way, just as it was rude of them to not at least include her in the conversation (seeing as she's IS the friend of the girl they were all so anxious to hit on). Her friend isn't much of a friend if she just let that comment slide and basked in the attention, disregarding her friend's feelings.

She wasn't joking, regardless of what she says in this post. That's not a "joke", it's a passive-aggressive dig for attention.
