Bye bye

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I was fired. For "lack of attention to details", specifically spelling errors. My now ex-boss misspelled the name of his own company on my severance agreement. FML
Today, my boss let me know that I'm being laid off, via a text message that ended in "lmao". FML
Today, I was checking my schedule online and noticed that I wasn't scheduled for any shifts next week. Not thinking it was a big deal, I called HR to get it corrected, only to find out I was laid off and they "forgot" to tell me. FML
Today, I was laid off from my job as a manager. After cleaning out my office, I began clearing my computer. I received an email from HR announcing a job position that opened up. Too bad it was for my job. FML
Today, I was at work when a co-worker decided it would be funny to email me from my boss's computer to tell me I had been laid off. It wasn't funny when I was fired for real after "skipping work without giving notice." FML
Today, I got an e-mail regarding an IT support job I applied to. The e-mail had numerous formatting errors due to bad code, and typos all over the place. It said I wasn't qualified for the job. FML
Today, I found out that I'm not getting a new position I applied for at my company. Now, I have to continue working for my boss, who recently severely criticized my spelling in my reports, only they weren't my reports, and when I pointed this out, she simply never responded. FML
Today, my boss sent me some application forms to check over. After I spell-checked them and returned them, I found out they're going to be used to hire someone to replace me. FML
Today, when I got to work, I found out that I was being laid off. Two hours later, I found out my boss had my name on the wrong list. I was elated. I went to lunch, but on the way back was rear-ended, in the rain. I was an hour and a half late getting back to work. I was fired upon returning. FML
Today, I found out I'm being laid off. Because I'm the only person at this company who knows how to process a layoff in our HR system, I get to have the pleasure of laying myself off. FML

"Deer sir, Do too thee's pore economic thymes, Wii will know longer bee kneading yore cervixes. Ewe will get you're last Czech in the male on Fry Day." The spell-checker had no problem with that. ;)

I'm pretty sure you can sue for improper termination...look into it.

I'm pretty sure she can't. She was LAID OFF. There doesn't need to be a reason for it.

I got laid off in a letter full of grammatical errors. I was a proofreader. I laughed really hard at the irony.

When I got laid off, my boss sent an email announcement to the office. Our company only had 20 employees and 3 of us got laid off. He managed to misspell each of our names in some way. We had all worked for the company at least five years. (I'd been there 10.) And the rest of the email was full of bad grammar (no other misspellings, apparently spell-check got those), but not spelling our names correctly - ouch.

You know, in some places, that means you're not fired. If you get a write-up or termination notice with a name on it that is not your legal name (spelled exactly as it is on official records), they can't do jack shit. That's how I escaped half the write-ups I got at my previous job, they were all addressed to a "K***** Johnson", and that just isn't my name!

no, we got actual paperwork (spelled correctly because it was prepared by me, since I was the HR person. that sucked too.) that was just his email to the office saying so long, stop by their office or cubicle today cause they won't be here tomorrow, we'll miss them, sorry to see them go...and the rest of you are safe, since this will alleviate our financial concerns.
