Bunch of bankers
Today, I went to the bank to open an account. It took hours for them to tell me that I needed my driver's license, passport, and residency paper. I returned with the documents. They then said that they couldn't help me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I finally got my ass into gear and went to the DMV to renew my driver's license. I waited in line for over two hours, only to find out that I had brought my library card instead of my license. FML
Today, I went to go get my driver's license, only to be told that I need a copy of my birth certificate. In order to get the copy of my birth certificate, I need a driver's license or my passport. In order to get a passport, I need a copy of my birth certificate or a drivers license. I have none. FML
Today, after 3 months of job hunting, I finally got a job. But now my birth certificate and social security card are somehow lost, and I can't start until I let them see a copy. FML
Today, I spent two hours finding, gathering, and printing documentation to go to the DMV to get my real ID. Makeup, hair, everything done, on my way there. They’re closed today. FML
Today, I finally went to the DMV to replace my lost license. After waiting for almost two hours, I casually rummaged through my purse. Something strange inside the lining caught my eye. It was my license. FML
Today, I went to the bank to make a deposit. While I was waiting on my transaction, the bank tellers were making fun of me. I could tell cause I heard them through the speaker. FML
Today, I went to an ATM to see how much money I had in my account. I put the card in. It never gave it back. FML
Today, after handing in my resume to get a part-time job, I tried leaving, but the door wouldn't open. It was the "in" door. The person I gave my resume to had to slowly explain this to me. FML
Today, a man walked into the bank I work at and asked what he would need in order to open an account. I had to look him in the eyes with a straight face, say, "Two pieces of identification," and ask him to put some pants on. FML
Today, I went to a coffee shop with the change I got back after buying a ball. After having waited in line for around twenty minutes, I was told that only credit cards were allowed. I'd left my wallet in my car because I thought I didn't need it. FML

So you walked into a bank, expecting to open an account with no documents on you whatsoever? And when you were refused, you didn't ask to speak to someone higher up than the teller? Seems odd they'd just reject your business for no reason.

Hopefully, they're not the only bank in town....

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt It does sound a lot like me, as an x-pat, trying to open a bank account. Problem is that most employees at banks don't know what the requirements are to open a bank account in their own bank.

We called the bank to ask what documents I would need. I was told that I would only need my passport and a phone number. I had both of those. When I got there the manager just kept telling me "No" and wouldn't give me information. The only person who would talk to me kept leaving to help someone else. They finally gave me the information, went home, went back and they wouldn't help me because "they couldn't speak English" even though I was asking in Chinese. I can't go to another bank because my company will deposit to that bank. I have to wait until next week and try another branch but the next one that's near me is 45 minutes on the metro.
