Bad mom
Today, my daughter's school called to inform me that I needed to bring her some sneakers. Not feeling like driving the 15 minutes to her school, I told them I was away from town. Then I realized I was on my house phone. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, since I'm still recovering from my surgery and can't drive, my daughter drove me to the doctor. When I was done and walked outside, she was nowhere to be seen. Then I got a text, saying, "Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere." The closest bus stop to our house is miles away. FML
Today, my parents left for work before I had to leave for school and I decided to skip. I stayed by the phone, expecting the school to call so I could pose as my parent and excuse my absence. The phone rings and I pick up. It's my Mom, calling to leave my dad a message on the machine. FML
Today, I got a call from my kid’s school, saying my daughter had a minor accident on the playground. When they asked her who to call, she'd said, "My mom’s probably in a meeting. Call the pizza place, they always pick up." FML
Today, I had to go to my daughter's school because she hasn't been going to class. Her teacher seemed surprised to see me with my husband when we arrived. Apparently I "died" recently and my daughter has had extra responsibility around the house, hence why she doesn't come to class. FML
Today, I went to work 300 miles away from where I live. I couldn't find my customer's address, so I decided to call him. I'd picked up my wireless house phone instead of my mobile. FML
Today, I made the long drive to work, got out of the car, and realised that I'd forgotten to put shoes on before I left the house. FML
Today, I noticed that my mom had left the house without her cell phone. I called her phone to let her know she forgot it. FML
Today, my mom was on the phone while we went grocery shopping. Apparently, her phone call was more important because she just left me stranded in the store. FML
Today, my daughter asked me if I could have the kids overnight, even though I’d babysat all day, all because she just got home and was too tired to make the drive to pick them up. She only lives two minutes away. I can see her house from my bathroom window. FML
Today, due to bad weather, my dad let me take his car to drive to my apartment 3 hours away. I only realized when I got there that my keys were still sitting on my parents' kitchen counter. FML

To all: Or most anyway. How in the world is someone a bad parent cause they dont want to waste time and gas and money to bring a kid something that they wont be hurt without? If it was lunch, then yes, she would be bad. I have never been hurt by wearing sandles instead of shoes.(assuming this was the case) ITS A F'ING PAIR OF SHOES! Unless your kid wears golden diapers, hush.

Schools don't make a habit of contacting a parent over nonsense. And if it was for gym, the child simply sits out. Said child was more than likely sent to school in sandals and needed warmer footwear, or her shoes were broken. Is OP a bad parent? No. But I'm sure you too would have brought your own child shoes if you were in this scenario. People are aggravated because she simply didn't want to be responsible, when she easily could have done the right thing.

Judging from your post the fundamental issue is how old I was when I had my daughter and your assumptions that that makes me a bad parent and means my daughter will follow exactly in my footsteps. What reason do you have to assume children follow exactly in their parents footsteps and how on earth do you think this is remotely relevant to the OP not dropping what she was doing in the middle of the day and driving half an hour to take her daughter gym shoes. Getting back to the actual point that you tried to side step when you realised you were in the wrong.. I'm pretty sure that by 5(The very youngest the OPs daughter might be. Chances are she's older) if your kid has not developed past functioning solely on their id they will be in a special school. Note I said "functioning solely on", not "consciously choosing to use". Pretty big difference and I'm not sure how you mixed this up, but given the terrible grasp on how to use certain terms that you've already displayed I guess I shouldn't be surprised any more. The teacher isn't going to call the mother a liar. The teacher will tell the kid "Mommy is out of town and can't bring your shoes" and the kid is going to realise mommy doesn't sit around the house all day waiting to leap up at the slightest whim. If the gym is too dirty and disease ridden to go barefoot (and this really makes me wonder about the standard of the school you went to. All the schools I attended had the floors cleaned thoroughly by cleaners every evening after school) then she can wear her regular shoes or sit the class out. I think at least one kid would have forgotten something like their gym shorts or shoes every gym class when I was at school and the teachers decide on an appropriate alternative and move on. It's ridiculous to say the kids will single her out for forgetting her gym shoes. Unless you're going to the worst of the worst schools I can't see bullying ever being this bad. I really do wonder about the quality of school you attended if you think these things are standard. I don't think someone not feeling like dropping whatever they were doing in the middle of the day and taking over half an hour to run an errand for something minor that their child(most likely older than 5) should have remembered makes her a "lazy bitch of a mother". I think the fact you would start screeching that it does kind of makes you a bit of an overly judgmental bitch though. kaleid0scopeEyes - You're taking time to read through other people's internet arguments and respond so pretty sure you don't have a leg to stand on. Get a life, yeah?

I would have done the same thing. Well, if it were the schools in my area calling for this. The schools here are ridiculous. The literally pick on the kids that they simply don't like. When i was in school, i brought running shoes, expensive ones too, and the gym teacher told me that since they were black shoes i couldn't wear them, i was not the only one with black running shoes. Hell no my mom didn't bring me other shoes, and it would have been ridiculous for her to have done so. My friend got in trouble for wearing a shirt that had the word "Insane" on it. We didn't have a dress code. This school is ridiculous, they pick on kids and make their lives hell, one of those ways is trying to get their parents pissed off at them enough to change the kids. So if this persons daughters school is anything like the one here, i would have don't the same. If it was a lunch, or she needed to go home sick, or some homework she forgot at home, i would be right there, but not for some stupid good for nothing nonsense that the school is just nit picking about.

Schools are freakin' ridiculous. A friend of mine got yelled at for sing a Potter Pals Song, it was lunch.

I agree,, my friend had to spend most of the day in her form room because she came in white trainers instead of black shoes, uniform rules are stupid, we can get sent out for not having our top button done or not having our ties, what good is school if its all about perfect uniform, its obstructing education.

You sound like a nasty, petty bitch with nothing to do in life except waste CPS time and resources with ridiculous reports about a parent not dropping everything in the middle of the day to drive half an hour to drop off forgotten gym shoes.

@Twinklestar Sounds like you are defending the lazy OP. I wouldn't have said anything on this but she specifically stated she was LAZY to get out of her house, so it appears she wasn't doing anything in the first place. So keep your ******* retorts to yourself if you can't even read properly, and ironically, you should take a look at the "judgmental bitch" in the mirror. Apparently, your parents didn't teach you manners and respect nor how to read and comprehend.
