Bad mom
Today, my daughter's school called to inform me that I needed to bring her some sneakers. Not feeling like driving the 15 minutes to her school, I told them I was away from town. Then I realized I was on my house phone. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, since I'm still recovering from my surgery and can't drive, my daughter drove me to the doctor. When I was done and walked outside, she was nowhere to be seen. Then I got a text, saying, "Sorry, I forgot I have to be somewhere." The closest bus stop to our house is miles away. FML
Today, my parents left for work before I had to leave for school and I decided to skip. I stayed by the phone, expecting the school to call so I could pose as my parent and excuse my absence. The phone rings and I pick up. It's my Mom, calling to leave my dad a message on the machine. FML
Today, I got a call from my kid’s school, saying my daughter had a minor accident on the playground. When they asked her who to call, she'd said, "My mom’s probably in a meeting. Call the pizza place, they always pick up." FML
Today, I had to go to my daughter's school because she hasn't been going to class. Her teacher seemed surprised to see me with my husband when we arrived. Apparently I "died" recently and my daughter has had extra responsibility around the house, hence why she doesn't come to class. FML
Today, I went to work 300 miles away from where I live. I couldn't find my customer's address, so I decided to call him. I'd picked up my wireless house phone instead of my mobile. FML
Today, I made the long drive to work, got out of the car, and realised that I'd forgotten to put shoes on before I left the house. FML
Today, I noticed that my mom had left the house without her cell phone. I called her phone to let her know she forgot it. FML
Today, my mom was on the phone while we went grocery shopping. Apparently, her phone call was more important because she just left me stranded in the store. FML
Today, my daughter asked me if I could have the kids overnight, even though I’d babysat all day, all because she just got home and was too tired to make the drive to pick them up. She only lives two minutes away. I can see her house from my bathroom window. FML
Today, due to bad weather, my dad let me take his car to drive to my apartment 3 hours away. I only realized when I got there that my keys were still sitting on my parents' kitchen counter. FML

You really are a scrooge, OP. Of course, it could be a well deserved blow-off - especially if this is a rather typical result regarding your kid - but that doesn't absolve you of your parental responsibilities. If you didn't want to deal with a kid, then you shouldn't have had one.

Yeah, if your kid asks you to do something that she should've done, regardless of age and past experience, you should just do it or that means you don't want to deal with your kid at all, in any way, and shouldn't have had one. Good logic.

I'm pretty sure that by 5(The very youngest the OPs daughter might be. Chances are she's older) if your kid has not developed past functioning solely on their id they will be in a special school... Did you overhear your mommy discussing her 101 psych class and decide to use that term here hoping no one would know what it meant or what? The teacher isn't going to call the mother a liar. The teacher will tell the kid "Mommy is out of town and can't bring your shoes" and the kid is going to realise mommy doesn't sit around the house all day waiting to leap up at the slightest whim. My mother would leave work or drive back into the city if she was out of town doing interviews for her work if I was feeling sick at school, but if I forgot my homework or gym gear and she was home for the day she most likely wouldn't drive 5 minutes to drop them off. I didn't feel bitter. I remembered to take it next time, took responsibility at school for things I had forgotten, and grew up to be someone who doesn't rely on others running around after me for things that are my responsibility. If the gym is too dirty and disease ridden to go barefoot (and this really makes me wonder about the standard of the school you went to. All the schools I attended had the floors cleaned thoroughly by cleaners every evening after school) then she can wear her regular shoes or sit the class out. I think at least one kid would have forgotten something like their gym shorts or shoes every gym class when I was at school and the teachers decide on an appropriate alternative and move on. It's ridiculous to say the kids will single her out for forgetting her gym shoes. Unless you're going to the worst of the worst schools I can't see bullying ever being this bad. I really do wonder about the quality of school you attended if you think these things are standard. Personally, I know when my daughter has activities she needs extra things for at school and I'll remind her in the morning. If she doesn't then misses out. If the teachers ask why she says "I forgot". Not "It's mummy's fault for not packing them". And it was no big deal. She sat the class out once with the other kids who forgot their swimming gear and the second time did it in her normal shoes. It happened twice at the start of the year, and she has remembered to get all her things in the morning ever since, usually before I even need to remind her. Responsibility is an important thing for any kid attending school to learn. The teachers here expect them to be capable of this before moving onto the older kids school (at 6). I don't think someone not feeling like dropping whatever they were doing in the middle of the day and taking over half an hour to run an errand for something minor that their child(most likely older than 5) should have remembered makes her a "lazy bitch of a mother". I think the fact you would start screeching that it does kind of makes you a bit of an overly judgmental bitch though.

Well let's see you got knocked up at 18 anyway (or was it 17?), so any good example you could have set for your kid is out the door since she's just gonna be that girl who get's pregnant at 18 too. You get what you put out, in life and your children. You got a kid because you put out and she's gonna get the same thing, and I doubt she'll do a better job of taking care of her children. And you don't mentally use the id, ego or superego, it's not a conscious action. Children don't develop an ego till later on, around 7 years old. QED bitch (I learned that from Mommy's Calculus class too!)

Lol? You can't respond to any of my points so you have to view my profile to make even more baseless assumptions and attack my personal life rather than responding intelligently to any of my perfectly valid points? That's pretty sad. My daughter is fluent in three languages, can read and write, is happy, healthy and well cared for and not a judgmental bigot. I'm pretty sure that at the age of 5 she's doing better in at least some aspects than you so I wouldn't knock how I raise my child too much. I said functioning solely on their id. Not mentally choosing to use their id. Children are starting to develop their ego at around the age of 3, and their super ego between 5 and 7. It doesn't even remotely make sense to use the term QED there. Are you going to throw around more random terms you don't really understand or stop replying now that you've realised you can't argue with any of the points I made above?
Ruetero 0
What? Do you mean that I can't argue with a nonsensical moron who doesn't even understand the fundamental issue here? But just so you can see the irony and hypocrisy of your own argument, I see you conveniently ignored pretty much the only steak and potatoes of my previous post: That the example you've set for your child will eventually come back to haunt you when she reaches adolescence. Oh and what, you want a prize because your kid can sing and dance too? Fluency in three languages huh? Let's see her perfect use of the subjunctive in all three then?

both of you are probably ******* losers in real life. twinklestar its kind of sad that you have to start a personal crusade for the op and reply to half the posts. seriously get a life and stop whoring out your daughters supposed intelligence just because you never accomplished everything besides ranting on the comment section of FML. and reutero is a moron for thinking that not bringing a pair of shoes one day makes a parent abusive. he probably calls it child abuse when he doesn't get an iPhone for his birthday. ******* high schoolers nowadays think that not having a cell phone means they are depraved.

well i think ur a lazy as for not taking ur kids shoes to school 4 her i mean it's only 15 min of ur life and u can look back on it saying u did something productive instead of writing an fmylife.....

I have to drive 15mins to work/school everyday. I used to live in a normal town where it was 5 mins, now in a farm town. I can see the OP's point. They shouldve built a school in her town then. And the kid won't die without tennis shoes. And yeah, I'm gonna get a bunch of replies calling me a princess for thinking 15 mins is too much. Well, it is, especially for unessessary shoes.
St0rm11 0
Yeah you lived with them for free and all they did was board you and feed you and pay for your needs. Damn them for making you walk a mile. I walked 20 mins to school since 3rd grade to 12th. Boo Hoo. And if our country sucks, don't come here then.

And that was a reply to that exchange person. fml coded it wrong, fml.
