Today, my English teacher asked me why I didn't have my project completed. Thinking quick on my feet, I told her it was because my grandmother had just passed away. Apparently they go to the same country club and have known each other for years. My teacher started crying and ran out of the room. FML
Today, at school, some kid I’ve never liked came up to me and said, to my face, "I’m really happy to hear about your mom." She died two weeks ago. FML
Today, a parent came into my class and told one of my 6 year-old students that their grandma died. Then the parent left. The kid started crying from the news, which then got all the other students crying. I spent the rest of the day comforting a class of kids crying over someone else's grandma. FML
Today, I caught two kids passing notes to each other in my class, so I told them to see me afterwards. When one of the kids eventually came up, I noticed he was crying. He looked up at me and sobbed out, "I was trying to make my first friend!" FML
Today, I was at a school rally I was talking to my friends when I noticed the entire gym had gotten quiet. Not knowing why I thought it would be funny to yell out "it's too quiet!" apparently it was a moment of silence for a teacher that had recently died. FML
Today, I found out that one of the students at my old school had committed suicide. Several months earlier, I'd informed the school counselor that said student appeared to be suicidal. Apparently, teachers dismissing her as "lazy" when she was actually very, very depressed was a big factor. Man, fuck that school. FML
Today, my youth pastor died and I was crying. My boss told me to dry my tears, because it was affecting my coworkers. Sorry I'm human and cry when someone I know dies. FML
Today, I was doing my job and trying to teach a lazy bunch of 16-year-olds. A girl entered the room just 15 minutes before class ended, so I snapped, "Someone had better have died for you to be this late!" She immediately burst into tears. Turns out, someone had. FML
Today, I saw my teacher using her phone in the middle of class, so to joke around with her, seeing as we're on pretty good terms, I said: "Using your phone in class? For shame." She looks me in the eyes and says, "Would it be OK if I told you I'm arranging my father's funeral?" FML
Today, I started crying in class because of a sad part in the book I was reading. I got pulled out into the hallway and my male teacher asked, "Is it your special time?" FML

The teacher probably didn't mean it that way, plus they were just trying to help, it's not like she could of read your mind but nonetheless, sorry for your loss, OP, hopefully you'll be feeling better soon, it's always hard dealing with a death.

However it obviously wasn't a Friend or relative because who uses the phrase "somebody i knew" when describing those people? Was it the guy who bags you're groceries or the guy who always serves you coffee? If they had meant anything to you, atleast if it was me, you would have stated the relationship no matter how small. Please someone actually explain how my thinking is flawed. Seriously, I would honestly like to know.

Yes I am aware she is in school most likely high school. But my point about the person not meaning anything is still valid. Some people just like to fine reasons to be depressed and cry about everything. And I believe that is the OP's case

If the person that died was just someone that bagged her groceries or served her coffee, I don't think she would have been crying about it. She obviously knew them well enough for the death to make her so upset. Why don't you stop being such an ass, I think you're the one that needs to grow up a little.

What a jerk that teacher was towards you! I am COMPELLED to give you the answer you should have given.... "Yes, I agree my social awkwardness will go away over time, but you on the other hand will ALWAYS be a ******* asshole!" Problem is, then you're expelled.... but it would be nice to give an asshole their deserved come uppance! Hang in there!

Can you please explain to me why a teacher trying to step in and notice signs from a student should be considered being an asshole? Cause unless you didn't know, teachers are meant to be aware of problems that a student might have and take into account any signs they might present. Obviously this student was probably shy and kept to herself, which is why this teacher assumed that this student was sobbing about such a thing. People cry for alot of different reasons, and a quiet sob is often associated with worry.

Because they are smarter than you. My comments aren't random, they are always pertinent to the original post. Also, many people comment to make jokes, not offer aid and comfort to the OPs. Most of us look at FML as an entertainment site, not group therapy. Take the stick out of your ass, you'll feel better. See, I can be helpful ;)

Sometimes I felt like crying, but I realized that was useless. Instead, when I felt really out of sorts, I'd stand up, whip out my weiner and shake it around a bit. I'd get a few days off school, get to blow smoke up some counselors' asses, and my classmates have stories they tell to this day. Pretty much win-win-win!
