Today, my boyfriend of 4 years proposed to me. I said yes and he gave me an engagement ring. He immediately went to call his mom to tell her the happy news. After the phone call, he asked if he could return the ring because his mom needed money. FML
Today, my almost-mother-in-law demanded I give my engagement ring back because it was originally her great-grandmother's, and she has now decided she wants it to go to her youngest son’s fiancée instead. My fiancé agreed and told me he’d just buy me another. He doesn’t get why I’m so upset either. FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed with the perfect ring, restaurant, flowers, and champagne. He’s never been this well prepared for anything in his life, so he admitted that my mother planned the whole thing and forced him to propose, even though neither of us want to get married. She even bought the ring. FML
Today, I'm going to be helping the love of my life pick out an engagement ring for my cousin. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend was going to propose. He'd bought me a beautiful white gold ring that I never got to see. His estranged mom stole the ring. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he's prepared to commit to marriage, but only if I buy my own ring and tell everyone he surprised me with it. FML

Today, my fiancé pawned off my engagement ring so he could buy himself a PS4. FML
Today, I found out that my boyfriend asked me to marry him because he could get a tax cut from buying the ring. All of this happened in front of his mother. FML

This is a HUGE red flag for your future! Don't marry this guy! Mama's boys that are that bad are not worth it! I was in a relationship with a guy like that once, and I thought we'd end up married--then one night we were at his mom's house, watching a movie with her. He sat on the couch next to her and I noticed about halfway through the movie that they were holding hands. We broke up soon after, and hearing what his wife goes through with his mom now, I'm SO glad I got out while I could!

She had her day and that was long ago. You need to refuse this one and have a little chat with mommas boy. He puts you first from now on. Your wedding day is your day. His mothers role is to accept you as is, stay out of the way unless she has the sudden urge to pay for something and kiss your ass.

Seriously, my ex husband gave me his moms engagement ring which everyone would think is cute but he bought HER a new one that was nicer then mine so she wasn't left out or jealous, when she could have kept hers..... I should have taken my clue from that but didn't and went through years of coming second to his mother..... Run like hell! While you can!
