Adulting
Today, I got pregnant even though I was on birth control. The father is nowhere to be found and I don’t even know his last name. My parents kicked me out of the house because apparently, “I’m an adult, so make adult choices.” I’m too scared to get an abortion. I’m at my wits' end. All due to failed birth control. FML

Sex, even on birth control, can come with unexpected consequences. It’s why condoms should always be used as well if you are avoiding getting pregnant. That said, if you slept with someone you don’t even know their last name, you definitely should’ve used a condom. More than just babies come from sex and condoms help prevent those to. That said, look up resources in your state for unwanted pregnancy. Usually some nonprofits can help, and if available, contact planned parenthood to see your options. You don’t have to get an abortion. It does take a mental toll, but before you do anything, you want to look into your options and if you do decide to, don’t let anyone shame or punish you for it. Unless they were willing to raise it themselves, they have no say. There also in some places is a surrender law about surrendering children shortly after birth. You may have to use that if it’s available. Whether you choose to give birth, or choose an abortion, please learn the pros and cons from an agency that can answer all your questions. But please take care of yourself and your needs first. You can’t raise a kid if you can’t support yourself first. And if this was a result of rape or another crime, please address that as well first. Hang in there.
