Well, you ACTED like a child.. Maybe new you were going to... Seriously, how did you get there? If you drove you're supposed to have ID on you anyway.. How hard is it just to carry it? Even if you were walking you probably had your wallet to carry your money...
Wow but you americans are retards. Learn to read - the op is from the UK where they don't have laws about carrying ID or policies about looking over 40. Nor are you required to carry your drivers license with you. If that cashier thought a 37 year old looked like he was under 18 then he's an idiot.
Actually, #323, I used to work in a supermarket and there was a woman who was about 34 and she got ID'd every time she came in the store because she honestly looked like a teenager. Also in some stores here in the UK, they are told to ID every person buying alcohol, cigarettes or knives, no matter how old they look, and if they get caught on camera not asking for ID they get a disciplinary.
The ID thing is if you look under 25 right? So be flattered. I know it's irritating, I saw a story in the paper the same thing happened to a 92y/o. It's ridiculous.
Under 40 most places
They card if you look under 40. Seeing as you're 37 I can see why they'd card. You're an asshole he was just doing his job.
Oh boo hoo, your precious pride was hurt. That's no reason to label the guy as 'scrawny' and 'acne-ridden' because it makes you sound bitter. I get asked for ID numerous times because I look under 18, but I know for a fact that sometimes, you have to ID people no matter what, especially if you're a new employee/young employee.
You sound like a total douche. I know some places have "No ID, no alcohol" policies, regardless of how old you look or are. My 50 year old mother couldn't get a beer once because she had walked to the bar and didn't have her ID, and she said "oh, okay, I'll have a diet coke then."
