Today, I tried to buy a bottle of wine from the supermarket. The scrawny, acne-ridden kid at the checkout asked to see my ID. I didn't have any on me, since I'm 37 years old and didn't expect to be asked stupid questions. I complained to his manager, only to be asked to leave. FML

I used to always buy alcohol for me and my friends when I was 18 (drinking age is 19 here). I kept track of my record, and if I remember correctly, I was 24 for 25. One time I got asked for ID, actually twice, but I was already in university the second time and used my university ID. It didn't say my age on it. I was like "I'm in university, how old do you think I am, 12?" and they sold it to me. So I count that as a win, as I got alcohol, but technically I was asked for ID. I'm now 21, and the last 3 times I purchased alcohol I was asked for ID. Makes me lol to realize I was better at buying alcohol when I was 18 than I am now at 21.

You're not supposed to drive without your ID..

You're not supposed to comment without reading the fml. The word drive isn't even in it.

Give the kid a break, he got a turkey thrown at him earlier..

Take that as a compliment. Don't be a bitch about it

Not his fault you werent smart enough to have I'd on you which you should always have no matter what. And take it as a compliment because once those wrinkles show you'll never be asked again

Is this really the world we live in? People really think you should have your ID on you always, no matter what? Really?

Hey by law he has to ask. You don't want stupid questions asked, don't be stupid and keep your ID with you. Makes life a whole lot simpler. Dont be blaming the kid for doing his job. It was your own stupid fault.

The UK does not require anyone to carry their ID 24/7. It is not law to ID everyone, especially if they look over 25. Having said that, the OP deserves it just for being rude.

If the cashier has already refused you by UK law the manager cannot override him under any circumstances, in fact he/she will probably back them up, like he appears to have done. If it's a major franchise it's even truer. Also, what's the problem with keeping a PASS marked card or the plastic part of your drivers license in your wallet? :P
