Today, I tried to buy a bottle of wine from the supermarket. The scrawny, acne-ridden kid at the checkout asked to see my ID. I didn't have any on me, since I'm 37 years old and didn't expect to be asked stupid questions. I complained to his manager, only to be asked to leave. FML

depending on what state you are in he could face jail time for not asking for id for anyone who looks under 40. I've had people come over the counter at me for asking for theirs. let the kid do his job and start carrying your id like u are supposed to

so because you are a lazy twat, he should put his job in danger and possibly have supplying charges on him.... your fault and try... Idk.... having your ID to buy things that require your ID

Showing I.D. to prove you're 21 is not new. They've always asked. And what are you doing out driving around without your I.D. on you, it's illegal.

Oh dear god. Learn to read. Not illegal. Not even immoral. Doesn't have to be 21. No fines/ jail time for not carding people. *maybe* a suspension if you failed to card someone who turned out to be under 18, but this happened to my friend who worked in the student union and she just got a warning.

Yep, it is sort of annoying when people think the world revolves around their home country. To save our sanity, I'll just shut down the comments on this one to encourage them to assume less, and to read more.

I enjoy this post, its like repeatedly banging your head against a brick wall.... UK= legal drinking age of 18 No one over 25 EVER carded in 99.9% of places Not in any way required to carry ID cards Not illegal to drive without having your licence on you (this is particularly true for people who are 35+ as their licences are in fact A4 sheets of paper, and carrying it around would be tantamount to stupidity, as it would probably get irreparably damaged.)

Dumbass he has to legally ask and then you're a double dumbass for going to buy wine without an id

i'm 25 and was recently asked if I'm over 16. It's policy to see an ID, don't get so worked up.

You’re a piece of shit. Not only are you attacking this kid on something he can’t help because of your stupidity, but you’re blaming him for doing his job, because you’re STUPID!

I work at a grocery store myself, and it's policy to request an ID for anyone who looks under 40. There are secret shoppers that occasionally will come through, so you really can't afford to allow someone clearly over 21 to pass through.
