Today, I tried to buy a bottle of wine from the supermarket. The scrawny, acne-ridden kid at the checkout asked to see my ID. I didn't have any on me, since I'm 37 years old and didn't expect to be asked stupid questions. I complained to his manager, only to be asked to leave. FML

The general rule for cashiers is if u look under 40 they are supposed to card you.

You stopped caring a long time ago? Then why are your last three comments whining like a bitch, huh? Do us all a favor and go away.

I'm a cashier and we have to check ID regardless of how old you are. Nothing makes you an exception to the rule..so suck it up and deal with it like the rest of us.

Based on your reaction I have to wonder how many drinks you had before going after more. I have forgotten my ID before(passenger, not driving), you know what, when they refused sale (I'm 41), I told them okay and left. No big deal my bad! He'll one time my 21 yo daughter made the purchase for me. Get over yourself!

Wow, you're an asshole. That poor kid was following the law and checking your ID. It doesn't matter if you're ******* 75 if he would have sold you alcohol and didn't have your ID on you he could have gotten fined and lost his job. The the retard who needs to know what the hell you're talking about befor you btich.

ITS NOT THE F***ING LAW IN F***ING BRITAIN! there is a 50/50 chance of ME not being id-d and i'm freaking TWENTY! it's REQUIRED that you ID THOSE WHO LOOK 18. Its 'advised' you id anyone who looks under 21 and some id all who look under 25, as a 37 YEAR OLD MAN, OP was PERFECTLY REASONABLE in not expecting to be id-d He was however, perfectly unreasonable in insulting the cashier. i do keep repeating this point, because you are all apparently blind.

But OP should have known that he could still be carded, because some stores do card, regardless of age.So he deserves it for assuming.

Never seen a single one that does, and in Edinburgh, they are strict with their alcohol. There comes a point where it is reasonable to expect to never, ever, ever be ID-d, that point is around the age of 30 for most women, and 25 for most men. Unless you're thinking a 37yr old man can convincingly pass for under 18?

At my old job we were required to check ID for every person paying with a card. I've had to deny entire purchases due to them not having it on them.

The age that you are to be where you don't have to check is 40. And if the person does not look at least 40 then their ID has to be checked. Otherwise the cashier WILL get in trouble if caught. You are 37, 3 years under 40. The cashier was doing what they were supposed to, they were following the rules and you got mad because of that? Yeah you definitely deserved to be sent out expecting special treatment because you are 37. Hopefully the manager at least gave the cashier some props for not giving in to a customer like you.

see above for agressive explanation of why you are wrong.

Yeah, insult his looks as if he can control them. If you are so pissed because someone did their JOB, then you should stay home. While you're there, you can shine your Dick of the Month trophy.
